Not really though The Mcintosh are actually MX-406=9255 EXL, MX5000= Clarion HX--D1. the power supply box are even interchangable. what more can we say?

What kind of sound you are after from your system? I think the Audison might be the problem. without paying anyting. try the TDB to drive your Dome midrange and your tweet. then the audison to drive the rear fill it deserved for. then listen again. it things doesn't get better than sell the P9 for Alpine F1 or HX-D2. Mcintosh only give you look. CD700 won't give you anything but a great CD player w/o functionality. They R too old. unless you don't need T/A or EQ then go for Denon or NAK.

Well I might offer you a free modify service!!! free labour, you pay for parts I want to have an inside look at the P9 before I actually buy the P90 to see what I can and waht I can't di with this baby

Man...trust this guy man.....mayB should hire golf_bht to Perth and tune the car for you. He can tell what wrong with the sound and will try to make something to improve it.

I did have a chance to listen to your car before...I don't believe that problem was from the Audison that cannot accepted the high voltage from the P9R. And also what worries me is the Floor noise. I hope you could do something to eliminate the problem. Also with the front soundstage, I think they are lack of the openess....not wide to my ears. I was thinking if u increase the upper frequency sound make the system sound nicer. Did you have the system tune by RTA ? I think you should make your speakers sound brighter. Some how for me i think your system is lack of upper sound.

I will listen to it again soon and see what is the changes now buddy.

Based on Noidea's comments on the system. It seem like install and tuning issues, more than problem/s with your gear. I will spend money to re-install and pay somebody competent to tune up the system if I were you.

You may consider Golf's comment to use the tdb 475 for the tweeters and mids, then the 2 bigger channels off the Audison for the midbass. Rearfills? Maybe no need to bother.

If I were in your position, I will not upgrade from the P9 to F1, IMO, it is just a very dear price to pay for an improvement that may not be really worthwhile/noticeable. However, if you are starting out from scratch and and budget is not a great concern, the F1 no doubt.

I can see most retailers not wanting to do this, as once the product is opened and installed its essentially 2nd hand, especially considering the RRP on these products.

Totall agree, but i wrote this:

If I was in your situation, I'd search far and wide for various retailers that have the headunits you listed on display.

By "on display" i ment in a comparator or already out of the box so you can see/use the unit. And if that was the case I'm sure the professional retailers woudl be happy for you to try before you buy, especially if you indicate you are a serious buy and are happy to pay for their time.
