My car is out of action so I loaded my audio gear into my brothers girlfriends car, an '87 626 Hatch, and rolled up for a go in the SPL competition at USA day.
Plenty of nice cars to see and I took many photos.
We got first in Street A with 141.3 @ 51Hz, with a DD 3512, DD M2, a run of 70mm flex (just fits without trimming) and a 520cca Century battery.
Sub is dual 1ohm so we set it up at 2, rather than 0.5, as the amp belongs to Phil still :P
We also got first in the A class eliminations with 140.9.

We probably would have also had the loudest reading of the day, but one of the Tas B class cars had the door open when they started one of their runs, which is against dB Drag Rules, making the reading a higher, at 142.1 decibels.
Most people there wouldn't have known.

Oh well, doesn't worry me, still got two little trophies.

150 photos!

Some things to note:
- First few are of the Eclipse demo van by Car Accessory Installs. It was very shiny and hard to get good shots.
- The one with the Alpine Type-X sub in the boot was a little Corolla I think. My favourite install by far.
- The Torana's parked over near the audio guys by accident. I didn't mind!
- My bro looks like a stoner.
- Last photo is me going to get a trophy. Look at my burnt legs!

I aggree that the door open in class B was against the propper rules but the owner was told by officials that she could do this for the one run. The next run was louder and was with the door sut the whole time. But I belive that the whole she bang was a little rouge as there was atleast one car that I can think of that pulld a 140 or better and driver was still allowed in the car... That is another NO NO. But no hard feelings as it was still a fun day and I got to blow an M1000 into smoke (fixed already)

How many people went over 140dB?
I can't remember, I was hoping that they'd have the white board / chalk board there so we could keep track.
We were told that we could go over 140 if we had ear muffs.

I also thought that 'unloaded' burp was the loudest of the day, obviously not, my bad.

I'm not complaining at all, hats off to everyone for using up their weekend to organise it.
I just need to work harder to milk an extra ~2dB out of my system to get loudest of the day, which should be achievable with repositioning of the box.

Dammit, I missed the smoke!

Can't wait till next time.

Next time for the pulsar will be tassienats as getting to d'port and burnie will be a slightly hard task as I have another carto play with aswell, usa day is just round the corner from home so hell easy to get there.

As most people will attest to I am not scarred to try for a bigger number even if the magic smoke comes out.

Both of our cars should be a dB or 2 louder for tassienats. So hope to see you there for some more friendly competition.
