Okay, MEASQ NSW is now officially going ahead, with a proposed six round format at intervals of between 6 and 8 weeks.

A full calendar and venue listing will be up soon, as soon as it is confirmed and formalised.

There is one issue that needs to be adressed by each competitor prior to entering, installs must be at a standard that can be considered clean. This means no ghetto styles, no blutac and no raw mdf.

We arent expecting show installs, nor are we expecting shop standard quality, just a lick of paint, some carpet and minor trimming.

I understand this may be a bone of contention for some, but you must realise that if the best of the best are to be photographed or published, we need to set an example and at least have cars looking neat.

With that out of the way we are wondering who is interested in competing this year as we need to get a rough idea of numbers to insure that you are all well taken care of.

I can officially confirm that there will be a round in the ACT this year, but as of this moment all other rounds bar the first two are pending final confirmation.

As mentioned earlier a full caledar will be up soon.

So who's in??

:)

In for as many rounds as I can squeeze in (depending on final dates).

As long as you guys are in it, I'm in for assisting in any way I can (schedule permitting). Competing is unlikely though...my uni schedule commences (from memory) on 28th of Feb, meaning anything after that will be a slim chance.

Still not liking that whole presentation idea, but I'll bite the bullet on that - it's always better to focus on what we do like, rather then what we don't.

What I do like is to see things going ahead as planned, and to see some old familiar faces involved. At the very least, I will keep up to date with the competition progress on here...and maybe with a little luck I'll be able to actuall make it to an event or two - at the Finals at the very least. Would be nice to give the Laser one last shot before I permenantly retire her (and possibly my system) next year.

Please feel free to PM me if I can assist in any way.

:)

I'm definately interested, got some major changes to my install coming and I may be have the time to compete this year, depending on the schedule as I have to fit it around football.

Thanks for moving this Marc, I wanted it in both sections, but was reluctant to double post.

Just wanted to make sure no-one missed it, and get max exposure.

Just to give people an idea, we are looking at mid to end of March as a starting date, so not to much longer to wait guys.

:(

That means im pretty much out from either a competition or judging point of view, as I just checked up and 25th Feb is my semester start date.

Will still try to offer assistance in other ways If I can at all, and will try to make a couple of events as a spectator if nothing else to support the boys.

I have faith you guys will make this season a good one, and hopefully set the right tone for next year, when I should hopefully be freeeeee :)

Be great to catch up again Muzz, theres not really much to do organisational wise, thats not already in good hands, but if you can make it on the actual comp days, Im sure there will be plenty that can be done (good slave labour is hard to find) ;)

At the moment finding some more Judges from the industry is the highest priority, to ease the burden on current judges and all else is mostly planned out ready to be acted on.

As soon as Judges are fully confirmed, a full calendar will be organised and the legwork can be completed.

Expect very strict and consistant judging this year, should make for some fantastic competition.

I urge all newcomers to come along and check it out, you will be made to feel very welcome, and there will be plenty of advice and guidance on the day, I will personally make sure everyone feels like they belong and can have a crack at having their systems Judged in a freindly and informative way.

Novice classes will be Judged in a more relaxed manner so no need to feel intimidated about copping the stricter judging that takes place in the higher classes.

There was some very close competition in last years state series (and at Nationals) and some very very nice sounding systems, with a lot of upgrading and evolution taking place towards the end, so It will be very interesting to see how things have progressed after such a long break and should make for some interesting competition this year.

As always there will be a barbeque to feed the masses (hopefully, if I have my way, cooked by a chef I know) and some cold drinks to cool us all down.

At its heart it is a competition, but its also a great opportunity to socialise with like minded audio freaks, put some faces to the online names, listen to some nice systems, and above all else get some quality feedback on your own system and some great advice on how to improve.

All judging this year is planned to be taken on by industry seasoned and trained pro's, with many years of experience and a good ear for impartial and fair judging, so you can be ensured of the quality of feedback and critical listening that will take place.

Should be a fantastic season. :)

Just checked out my UWS timetable for this year, and came up with this:

Mid Semester Break: 19th-25th April - This is only a single week off, but still might help with attendance of any uni students.

Intra Session Break: 28th June - 27th July - This is a nice long period of about a month, so would be a perfect time to hold an event...definately potential for increased attendance by me and Rick, at the very least.

Mid Semester Break: 20th-26th September - Again this is only a week off, but better then nothing.

Most Uni's have breaks around similar times, so it may be worthwhile scheduling an event during one of those periods. Should make it a little easier for students such as Rick and myself to attend.

Minor public holidays might also be worth considering, as it gives most people a free (and for some, paid) day off.

To be honest guys, I will try my best to make an event...I just don't want to make empty promises, so I'd rather say I wont come (and come) rather then say I will (and not show up). Probably not to compete, but more to catch up with everyone and lend a hand where possible.

-----

Georgie - I said from the start that if something runs and the right people are involved, then I will assist and attend as long as uni schedule permits...that hasn't changed :)

I am in.

However, the Val is up for sale, and the [insert nice classic here] is not yet in my hands. Thus, as soon as I have a car, time, and a stereo, I will be in :)

I should also be able to help organise/help out/compete in the ACT round as well.

Spoke to Wazza a couple of days ago and he is keen to help out too, although he (rather too) freely admitted he knows nothing about SQ....

Hope he knows how to use a BBQ

if anyone needs a hand to do anything MEASQ related, just give me a call/PM.

IM IN ALREADY!

I'm out for this season sorry folks. I will most likely be without a car in the next couple of months and getting married and building a house will be the priorities this year.

Should have a new set of wheels in 12-18 months and I'm already saving for the next install. If I can pinch my Fiance's car at some stage, I'll try and drop by on competition days to catch up with everyone.
