what the hell is going on with my hotlinking skills today dammit!

this data sheet (which should have come with the sub) gives you the box sizes & specs for your sub

with that much power you should have no worries getting the thing moving.

So, how competent a box builder are you?

a) "Miss Hoover I nailed my hand to my sub box" - build yourself a sealed box
b) "Miss Hoover I nailed Ralph's hand to his sub box" - build yourself a ported box

also pay attention to the quote at the bottom of the data sheet. it says "choose response "a"

as for the vibration, how well is the midbass attached to the door?

have you used sound deadening on the door? If not, consult the tutorials and the beginner section too :)

hope that helps

The only excuse for passive crossovers is their low cost. Their behavior changes with the signal level dependent dynamics of the drivers. They block the power amplifier from taking maximum control over the voice coil motion. They are a waste of time, if accuracy of reproduction is the goal.

my bad.

from the same tech pages at the ID site anyway.

give this a try

as I pointed out, build yourself a sealed box. I dont think you'll miss the extra output from a ported box with that amount of power on tap. also, couldnt find specs of your amp either.

sorry :)

The dpx1000.2 you have is actually 1000rms@2ohms from looking on the net. Which is actually lucky for you, seeing how you chose the Dual 4ohm version of the IDmax, not the Dual2ohm which would be needed to achieve the power at 4ohms. Whether you realised this or it was just lucky, but your first post it indicates you didn't realise it, perhaps you did?

I have an idmax10 d4...
mines running in a sealed box .9 cu ft
sounds great, very loud, and very nice sounding sub.
I had mine running off 500-600 w rms, sounded nice
then got a new amp, now running at 1200-1400 w rms, and its amazing, it really comes to life :)
