ok i have 165k3p's run actively, tweets in the a-pillar the rest in the doors, i want to upgrade again and run dual 165kbe's in the doors and 100kps in the a-pillars, and putting the remaining speakers (ie 165k2p's) in the rear. any foreseeable problems/benefits i might run into if i go down this path???

more like IN-YOUR-FACE midbass... coz a single KBE is crazy..

but have you got the power to do it is the main q?
or an amp thats 2ohm stereo-able for the dual KBE's..

think you can do it with your current amps tho! :)

Ok, main advantage more Midbass, but your going to be losing out in the midrange department, and probably to the point that you won't be able to use all the midbass you have available, whilst keeping a balanced sound. Think of it like a 15" sub for instance my sub is capable of LOTS of musical output but I can't use it all in a balanced way because the sub just overpowers the system, and sure that can be fun, but you get sick of it after a while and just turn the sub back down to a sensible level. Your other disadvantage is your going to be increasing your path length differences, by moving your midrange to the A pillars, which is going to make two seat listening like I know your car is set up for, and currently does a good job of imaging from both seats, once you move them up this is going to get harder to achieve, I'm not saying it's impossible but it makes it harder. The thing to remember about lots of these cars you see from Europe for instance with custom dashes with all the drivers up high, is that they are one seat wonders.

Luke

P.S. if you can do it, I'd try and fit a 8" midbass, whilst keeping your 6" midrange where it is currently.

Personally, I think its a great idea.

Array your midbass, get them playing in a more linear fashion, and you'll get harder kick from them. Always better to have too much and turn it down, then have too little yet not be able to turn it up.

With the mids and the tweets though, I would seriously consider the kicks as mounting options. Focals and windscreens are a no-go (unless you've got the TLR of course) and the mid wont be doing you any favors up there either. Tonally, it will be very difficult to tune right.

Do they still make the Kbe upgrade kit? Thought I read something about the Kbe upgrade no longer being available.

maybe i should just get another kbe set and move the 6.5 midrange to the kicks???, as for the channels i have plenty of them and i could just use the f545 exclusively for the misbasses, Id rather not put the 8"diver in as they would be doing a new pod just to fit it and its a little too pricey

k now for the arraying, can you explain how to do it in simple terms using the h701 and without modding the pods????? this pic is exactly as it is atm

focal tweeters and windscreens can work... :P

but mounting both midrange & tweeter in the kick would be the way to go... :)
As above.. might be harder to tune a nice balance.. maybe consider giving yours more power first before venturing down the "more/larger cone area" path..
i know the KBE & 100KP love power, in tune of ~350wrms!

i feel that your amps could be letting it all down, especially when they dont bridge evenly.. unless, your running them in left/right config..

you can massively overpower them if you set the gains & crossovers right!!

not sure about the K2P midbass... but i have over double that power to my 3 way..

as i said, 350wrms to each midbass & 350wrms to my 100KP (per side!!)
