Im back again folks :D

I have a few questions about speaker setup.

Running 2 way active Z6's on a w200 + h701 system

currently, it sounds quite alright
however on some songs there is a nasally type of sound more from the higher male vocal range when i increase the volume
instruments sound fantastic

have posted this up on nzice.. and have gotten some good responses back about reflection, phase? and also adjusting the x-over points

one of my questions are...
does the upper male vocal range (500-800hz est) really effect the higher frequencies? as in 1-4khz?

also I have read, when mounting tweeters up higher from the mids, its better to cross them over at a higher x-over point
so if I have them mounted in the kick panels and mids in the doors (factory location) should I be using a much closer x-over frequency for both the mid and tweeter? or even over lap?

and lastly, if my tweeters are in the kick panels facing the opposite seat, is this a bad thing? should I have them pointing to a central point?

I have experimented quite a bit with the x-over points and im using even slopes as suggested in previous posts at 12db/oct on both the mids and tweeters
and also with tweeter placement, I quite liked having them mounted on axis from my last install, hence the reason I had angled them the way i did

I have to admit, the system is sounding much more alive now, very clear, crisp and detailed, its just this minor annoyance only on some tracks where the male vocals tend to be a bit sharp and nassally

just so you know, I had the tweeters at 4khz @ 24db, mids LP @ 3.6khz @24db also
mids are now at 2.5khz @ 12db and tweeters 3.2khz at 12db/oct ...

Im also using time alignment

It won't be TA.

Find a specific track that causes the issue and play with the LP filter point and slope of the midrange.

For the record, my personal preference (especially when TC is available) is to place the tweeters in the A-pillars to raise the stage and avoid the pitfalls of passenger's legs. Actually, I haven't mounted tweeter in my kickpanels in over a decade or more in no less than a dozen cars and they've all imaged extremely well. Also, I have found that the higher mounting position works best with a lower crossover point, not a higher one. It does require a tweeter with a low Fs mind you. Otherwise you'll have power handling issues.

I agree, especially if you cant get good angle from your mids down at the bottom of the door.

The low crossover point was a major reason why I chose my OZ's over BA and the like.
