hi all

i just need your opinion guys. which speaker should i go for. i haven't listen on the morel. but i heard people said that the speaker are really good. is it really that good? and if so does anybody know where to get morels in melbourne? i've listened to the Zr series and it is really good. hence that it have a clear sound and not that much of a high pitch sound(i prefer it that way).

thx guys :)

the only person who can decide is urself....are u really going to trust the opinion of someone else on $1000+ speakers when there's a definite chance that the other person may have different acoustic tastes to ur own???

i wouldnt.
try and get a listen to the morels so you can decide which u prefer - might be hard to hear them on a soundboard somewhere, but sure if u contact a shop that sells them, they may be willing to find a customer who has them and will let u listen to them 'in car'

i doubt you would be able to hear a car with morels in them unless a member here lets you listen to their car.

maybe it would be best to come to a test and tune day or a sq event then you might be able to hear some of the competitors cars. This will give you an idea of how these speakers car sound.

at the end of the day the install dictates the sound but you should always install to your speakers stengths and try best to hide their weaknesses.

I would look up reviews on the Supremo and go from there, if they seem to be what you are looking for then I would assume you would like them better. The reason is because they are both in different price ranges, the ZRs go for $800-$1200 and the Supremos are about $2000 or a bit under, pretty much twice the price!

another thing to remember is the supremos dont come with a crossover, one is available but i think theyre another 1400 bucks on top of the price for the drivers, i have supremo's in my car, running active and absolutly love them, that said ive heard the jl's and they are a very nice speaker set too
team no audio in the car cos im a sh*t bloke

Is there a reason you've limited yourself to these two sets? I mean, Focal K2P, Polk SR6500, Boston Z6, Alpine type X pro, are just a few that I would usually suggest over the ZR's for the most part, haven't heard the supremos myself.

If you want to run active, tymphany's vifa/scanspeak/peerless range is great to check out and with correct driver matching, install and crossover points they would probably crap all over any of the aforementioned car audio sets, and cheaper too...

Aurasound also has some interesting drivers to play with, as does seas. Just my 0.02.

Depending on what crossovers you have on your amplifiers, you can run the supremo's off your amps directly. I did and they sounded great.

ive been extremely impressed by thezr650 jlaudios. If you want something a little cheaper then the c5s might be worth a try

however the morels have had amazing reviews here and over seas. I think all the morel series can be bought with passive x-overs even the supremos.

You can find Morel in Melbourne. Check out No Limit in South Melbourne. I was there today and they had a set of elate 6" and also the limited edition elates that looked awesome with the carbon fibre cones. Im sure they help you out with any Morel.

Have a chat to Adrian. I bought an Audison Connection Power & Speaker install kit from there and he was very helpful.
