The Kenwood KFC-W3011 a 12" 1200w/400wrms Subwoofer

I will begin by saying that this is an awesome sub that hits hard and comes at a great price for someone on a budget.

I am currently using this Subwoofer and i must say the quality of this just amazes me, it is so sensative and can hit hard when needed. This sub from the right places can be found under $100 and there is no better price for a sub with this quality. It is perfect for someone who is on a budget or that decides that they want to run multiple subs and not pay a fortune.

I have only compared it to a few of the lower end subwoofers these were
12" Boss 1000w (not sure what model) My cousin owns this
US Audio 15" (" ") My mate owns this
Sony XSL120P5 12" Subwoofer (few people own this)

I found that none of these were really a SQ sub, they were loud but sensitivity left a lot to be desired. The Kenwood can not only be power to extreme levels but can hit high and low with no issues.

This is my first setup but i did have a look around at the competition, i have also tested this sub against others but most of them were in store.

I am running this with a Clarion APX1300 i think 300w rms

In closing i would suggest the purchase of this sub to anyone

I have to agree. Just put one in my Commodore wagon and couldn't be happier for the price. I'm running it with an Alpine 9884E and a clarion APX2121 bridged.

Perfect for a someone on a budget.

I cracked 2 of them off my Alpine MRP F600 in my mums laser...
the amp makes Brigded 4 ohms 300W x 2 @ 14.4V
the sub as mentioned is 400rms...
i have installed 4 of these in another 3 cars...they have a very muddy sounding bass id say...
have the ability to make some loud bass but as for sq....not one of my choices...
the gear you were talking about...the boss audio, sony (older models) as the new black cone subs arent all that bad, and the clarion are all about as entry level as they come...
for the price yes but dont give them anymore than 250rms...

Why is mine taking 300w RMS Daily ?, even though it is only an a-b class amp it would be pushing the sub pretty hard !

I think you'll find box plays the largest part in how they sound jonno_x

What kinda box were they in jono?

QUOTE (RYDFMX @ Dec 1 2008, 09:56 PM)

it reads 154.3 haha i made a port today bit over twice the length and it plays alot lower now but no where near as loud to the ear as bretts 121 that is insane.

I also have on of these running off a JL G1700 700wrms mono (350 @ 4ohm & 700 @ 2ohm). They are a bit muddy but I'm still playing around with the setup. Other then that I am happy with it.

I have one of these in a ported box aatm as I sold my Alpine Type X 12 inch and awaiting the arrival of my DD 3515. Its running off 1 JL 500/1 at 42.1 volts and its much much louder than my Type X. The Type X killed it in sound quality but the Kenwood definately has greater output from half the power. Two of these would hit hard

can I hook your sub up to my 2 X 750watt house amp?

I regularly run a Pioneer 305C off this amp in the house, clipping light flashing occasionally on bass hits, with only a single channel being run, so the sub is getting 750+watts....

$96 the sub cost me...

I seriously doubt the Kenwood would take that.

^ What's your point? Whilst I agree, the 305c is a great entry level sub, it's irrelevant. The review is on the Kenwood.

Have you tried it? And nothing or no one prompted this response so i am agreeing in the sense that this is irrelevant !

the review was on the kenwood, compared to other ~$100 subs...

my point is totally relevant.

my point is, that for the money, you'd probably be better off looking into the Pioneer subs.

The 305c you're raving on about has been discontinued for years now, and the newer TSW range hasn't been anything like the 305c.
