The 305c you're raving on about has been discontinued for years now, and the newer TSW range hasn't been anything like the 305c.

the newer Pioneer subs are comparable to the 305's...

I have used the 306's and 307's

I got 2 of the 12" Kenwoods in this thread in my boot. They are fed by a Alpine MRD-M501 (550x1@2ohm)

This is a commodore: They shake the change in the centre console and they make the E-Toll thing break off the windscreen and both side and rear view mirrors shake. I paid 35 for one from ebay and the other came from a Ryda special for $88.

I would agree about the sound quality being muddy though. I went from mine and listened to a Peerless sub in a mates hatch and was like wtf? Totally different. The peerless sub was ear snappingly crisp and loud just for one sub. The peerless sub was $250 worth and was running from a avantgard? competition amp though.

So... How would the Kenwood KFC-W3011 compare to the Pioneer TS-W302R? I have heard the TS-W302R, and they aren't bad for a budget sub. Has anyone heard both to compare? I'm interested for my other half's car.

I have dual pioneers in my car but i forget what model they are but i know they are 400w rms and 12 inch and i prefer the louder Kenwoods because after i got the pioneer subs i thought it was all too quiet !

the kenwood subs aren't any louder.

you've gone from a 120 litre box tuned to something like 40Hz, with the two kenwood subs.

to a 60 litre sealed box with the pioneers :S

please don't make statements based on stupid comparisons.

Figjam said that his Kenwood Sub of the same model was louder than a Type X he previously had.

As for you telling me not to make stupid comparisons you were talking about an in house amp, running your pioneers and then you say without facts "I seriously doubt the Kenwood would take that." that not only seems like a stupid comparison but that seems like someone who is completely biased to Pioneer !

wtf?

I was talking about POWER HANDLING!!!

it doesn't matter where the sub is sitting, or where the amplifier gets its power, as to how much power it can thermally handle!!! (enclosure will effect mechanical power handling, but thats not what we're discussing)

it DOES MATTER what enclosure the sub is in if you're going to make comparisons like you did!

You made a remark about something i said calling it a stupid comparison, and i replied stating that you have done that yourself (moving on), someone else was talking about the power handling and volume of their Kenwood Sub of the same model to a Type X, and the reason i said you would have to be biased is because you wont give Kenwood the kudos that others are due to their experience with the sub itself, where as you are doubting the sub without experience with it !

have to agree here, even tho this thread is an older one, i installed one in a mates VS commodore about 6-8months ago, powered off a somewhat older clarion dpx1800 mono, in the clarion slot ported box, i found the opening for the sub had to be opened up a tad as it was a tight squeeze, but it's been playing hard and strong ever since! i was thoroughly surprised by the performance, it's by no means any kinda of spl set up, but a good entry level sub... and pretty sure my mate paid ONLY $120 for both the sub and box from autobarn... i'd definitely recommend it to anyone wanting and good cheap set up... and as for power handling... well the amp's rated at 800W x 1RMS [2Ω@14.4V ≤1% THD+N] from cea amplifier power standards...

for the price, i was impressed with the sq, (sorry, should've stated that earlier) my mate mainly uses it for dance/trance, but it's quite responsive, has a very "full" punch, and all round a good sounding sub, that said, the down side is that it could be a bit clearer, i find it's a tad muffled i guess is the word i'd use... but being in a commodore at the back of the boot, firing sidewards (he needs his boot space) your never going to get as clear a sound as possible... all in all tho, definitely a good buy for the money IMO...
