Hi Guys,

I thought I'd put up a post where we can share some ideas about how next year is going to run, as an extension of this thread. At the moment, my vision is to hold either 5 or 6 MEASQ events as part of the national series. These will be held in different places around Canberra, most likely a couple at Elite Car Sound, a couple at poofter park Weston Park, and maybe one or two at other shops depending on support. The first event next year will probably be held on Sunday 1 February at Elite.

for those of you not involved in running these events, we would love you to either get involved, or simply post up that you'd like to attend and what class you'll be running in.

If you're into SPL, let us know here so that we can plan how to best run sound quality and SPL together.

Lets try and make 2009 the year that Sound Off's come to Canberra!

:drinks:

This may be a given, however....
- I suggest the rules/guideline are in line with all other states. Track/disc selection etc.

- Think about 1/2 events outside of ACT??

meh. NSW can run their own show next year.

Of course, if you need our help and competitors to come up, then we're always more than willing. :good:

I say set the 5 or 6 dates now if that means going around to some other shops now to set dates and venues we should do it.
Adverstise it as a season instead of one comp here, one comp there with the pionts champion at the end of it to try and get people to attend all shows.
Also set pricing now too, and even offer a discount to people how would pay in advance for all 5 or 6 shows and a discount for
pre entering.

Looks like I'll be playing a minor role this year, things have just changed big time at work, and I'll be travelling a lot more.

hrm....so no promises for judging, Data_mine? that could be tricky...

and cheers Wazza! Can you design a points system and a class system for the SPL side of things for next year's series? and should we come up with a name for the series too, kind of like the Pioneer Summer Series but cooler and more appropriate?

should we think about an prize for SQL series champion too? It worked pretty well last time getting the SQ folk to burp their car!

If I'm around count me in, just don't count on me. As I only found out last week, I'll be o/s for three weeks coming up next week. So I've had to rush job travel, accom, skipping christmas etc. etc.

That's nice, but...

Andy Jones, IASCA Street X SQL is code for "I half ass everything." Basically you are saying you are not loud enough to do SPL, and have no idea what it takes to do Sound Quality. So you meet in the middle with a quiet system that sounds like ass. Good job at being mediocre.

While purests of both sides agree, it happens to be where MOST people's car happen to be. Let's be proactive in getting them involved, possibly moving them into SQ or SPL, or even just having more people at comps. Is that a bad thing?

Chris/Matt... Both SQ and SPL deserve to be at the same event at the same time, BUT your suggesting that an SQ event is run, an SPL event is run and an SQL (fence sitters) still deciding whether to join the rebels or the dark side? Star Wars anyone? :)

You're still making it sound like a bad thing. More people to comps can only be good. As said, they may swing one way or the other, or they can remain happy with a system they may be very happy with.

I fail to see the problem.

Chris no problem at all, but if there are already 2 formats i.e. SQ and SPL why do you feel there needs to be another wheel created? I just think that all bases are covered with the 2 formats, SQLer's need to pick a side and get off the fence :)

sorry guys
im with George on this
the event Alan and i came up to canburra for was great
sq and spl
both worked great together
and sq entered into the spl
maybe even charging for each but if they enter both give them a decent discount
like an extra $10 or something
what about a mini show and shine incoporated into the show?
oh and dont go hardcore DBDrag rules as that would scare the newbies away
maybe similar rule to the old dbdrag rules

and just keep it simple

yep...I'm liking the idea of a show and shine, especially in the summer months if we can get somewhere nice as a venue.

George, our last comp (as you know) worked quite well for a debut comp, and there were plenty of people who compete in SQ wanting to burp their car for sh1ts, giggles and trophies. Isnt that what SPL is all about?

plus, we might, maaybe, just win over a couple of SPL'ers to the light side of the force.

Matt I see what your saying and it would be great to see some empty their boot to use for other things, but you can only lead a horse to water, it has to decide whether to drink or not...

I love this :D

No, unless you want to hold the meet at the NMA carpark with the various car clubs that show up.
