Does anyone have a car they want to muck around with?

Maybe try a few things?

The board needs a little more action! :P

When i say nothing special i mean run of mill sorta stuff... GPS nav, music/video playback etc. I will be running centrafuse interface, and there is lots of little plugins to play around with so will see what happens. It will only be integrated into the audio system using aux input but hell, this is a daily...not a SQ money pit haha

This should be started in about a month. Im just about to get the project truck running so from there on its paint, then i can FINNALY start on the much loved ICE side of things.

What CPU are you going to use? Prefab computer or custom built?

I'll be watching for it. I'm waiting for someone to use an Asus EEBOX.

Anyone else planning anything soon?

I'm currently planning a FitPC, touchscreen, HD sound card and custom control circuitry in a double DIN chassis for a toyota MR2. Looking at radio, bt, gps, video with external screens, ipod, web browsing mobile and via wifi, OBD displaying, etc. Using centrafuse.

Might not be that innovative, but look out for the infill-like integration as a package :)

Where do we get the FitPCs in Australia? This is the first time I have seen those.

If anyone wants to have a chat about this sorta thing add me on MSN: sales@shoppingsecure.com.au

I'd like it answered as well if anyone can comment. There are the HQCT tuners but they are pretty pricey. I'm wondering if the radio shark 2 will do the job... I'm not expecting it to be brilliant though.

I'd like to build a carPC for use in my next car, however that's over a year away. I have a very small form factor HP PC with a P3 7xxmhz CPU, 256MB RAM and it runs windows XP (just), so if I made my own streamlined install of XP, slapped a laptop hard drive in and made a custom enclosure that's even smaller than what it currently has I could be onto a winner for a low cost. I'm willing to donate the PC (plus an extra that's exactly the same) to anyone who's willing to have a crack at a carPC without spending hundreds on newer intel Atom CPU's, etc.

Hmmmm, I wish I had the skillz and time. I'll probably end up going for a pre-built unit that I can semi-plug and play.
