I wouldn't reccomend an inverter, and the computer should only have power to it when the car is on from a dc/dc power supply or a laptop car charger run off the acc circuit/ ciggarette lighter? if you are getting a flat battery you havn't hooked it up correctly.

Cheers, Grant

also went to jb hi-fi today, and fella there said it costs like 300 for the cat10 converter and said its not worthwhile keeping

I like how he decided for you that it isn't worth it - obviously there is a market for them so a lot of people think they ARE worth it.

An inverter is a bit of a waste IMO, you're going from 12V to 240V then back down to 19V or whatever it is the Eee runs at. Surely you can get a straight ciggie charger adapter for the EeePC. Since you'd be running from the battery and using the adapter to charge the battery then it wouldn't matter if the power cut on starting the car etc and it also wouldn't drain the car battery since it would be hooked up to an accessory power wire.

All the information given here is great, and I think the best way to integrate all these possibilities is to use a software interface RoadRunner "or Centrafuse. If you get a VGA touch screen, you just put in some screen and auxilery thouch screen works via USB.
