Hey guys

I have a rockford fosgate d212d4 SUB which is 2000w 1000rms, its a dual 4 dvc.....i'm having trouble looking for a mono block that would run my sub to almost full potential about 1800w and 900rms....i've looked at the wiring diagram and it says the AMP should be at 2 ohms and the sub is at 4 ohms...i need help please.

your sub is dual voice coil, 4ohm+4ohm.
this means that you can either wire the coils in series and present an amp with an 8ohm load, or wire them in parallel and present a 2ohm load.
ideally you want an amp that is 2ohm stable and will produce at least 500wrms @ 2ohms. its that simple.
you can get amps that will make more at 2ohms (for example, 1500wrms) and as long as you set the gains on the amp correctly (there is a tutorial on this site for how to do this) then it will still be perfectly fine

Most amp manufacturers would make a suitable monobloc. It's not that complicated.

Only 2 requirements really:
1) It must be 2 ohm stable (assuming you want to wire the sub for a 2 rather than 8 ohm load)
2) It should have a suitable power rating

Your subwoofer has two voice coils.

Each are rated at 4 ohm each.

when you run your sub from a monoblock amp, mono amps only has one set of speaker terminals
whereas you sub has two speaker terminals.

This means you have to join the two from the sub together to make one set of connections to be
able to connect it to your amp.

You put the two (+) terminals together and the two (-) terminals together.

When you create this type of electical connection with your sub you complete combined resistance
actually becomes 2 ohm

this is why you need a monoblock to do 2 ohm.

normally if its not printed that it can do two ohm somewhere in the amps specifications or on the
box steer clear! I wouldnt trust a monoblock that cant do a 2 ohm load, alot are capable of 1 ohn
these days!

Hope this helps :-)

Cheers,

-Frank-

Please stop referring to the peak watt rating. It means nothing. Its a marketing gimmick.

You want an amp that ideally outputs 1000WRMS at 2 ohms.

Have a look at something like THIS JBL amp. It has a bit more power than you need, but if you are sensible with the gain control it will be fine.

Well, my JBL amps do a hell of a job. I don't have any issues with them.

IMO they are a solid amp, with a nice clean output.

Mate I have one of those JBL 14001 amps and it is quite good! I only paid $600 last year. My SPL reading went from 133.4 off the jaycar 1k mono to 137.4 off the JBL. Good power for the price and it looks quite nice too
