10 to 14 hours one way (coilovers)

2 days drive, I'm used to the travel - working away. I've once driven 4 hours each way to get a box of donuts from krispy cremes :P

I'd drive 2 days, as long as it was less than 12 hours/day

but have to be more than 1 day's activities for that distance.

for a 1 day comp, I'd go 12-14 hours (Glen Innes)

I have no issues in driving, the only concern for me, is the availablity of premium fuel. Without, my cars will not run, one of the many bugs with owning modified cars. Carrying jerry cans could be the only dodgy solution to this. Also, I would be a sealed road only driver

12 hours each way max for me. Like others it would have to be a sealed road, and have more than a days worth of activities/entertainment.

Or a container of octane booster for emergency purposes. :)

octane booster wont boost it from 91 to 98+ though. Clint's foz is VERY picky with fuel and pings when starving it of optimax or bp ultimate. Same deal with my GTS :(

Diesel FTW!!! Available anywhere trucks travel (Australia wide :P)

Haha - yeah theres some pretty bloody average diesel out there though - always fill up at a high turn over servo (look for trucks that are actually filling - not just stopping over - I learned this the hard way) and if possible use hiflow pumps (though your car probably can't take them). And take Flash Lube diesel conditioner! - It makes a huge difference to drivability and fuel ecconomy. There is also a funnel available with a filter that supposedly seperated fuel from water that a lot of guys carry with them when travelling - I've not used one so I cant comment. I just chuck a touch of metho in if im sus about water content in the diesel.

I did a 200k round trip to get some old ducks some new fuel between Balladonia and Caiguna a few years ago after they filled up at Cocklebiddy and nearly hydraulic'd their hire winnebago.
We pumped probably 3 litres of water out of their fuel system (Damn CRDs are hard work!). I drove a total of just under 1600 k's in just over 11 hours that day from Esperance to Ceduna. The next day I drove Ceduna to Murray Bridge then Murray Bridge to Melbourne. Melbourne appears MASSIVE (and insanely busy) when you've come back over from the West.
I drove 9008k's that trip (yep and nine thousand and eight) in 15 days - Kel twisted he ankle so I drove the whole lot. Best trip I've ever done! Back was shagged after it though and I'll have to get decent seats in the patrol before I do it again (next big trip is over west on the train then up north and across the top and back down from the cape).

Having said that Premium fuel is become more and more accessable and LPG is available the whole way around australia on the black top with the furthest distance to fuel being about 400k's
