Hi All,

I have a Nokia N95 (yeah one of THOSE types)...and as many have faced there are no decent car kits available - THX Bury make one, but a PITA trying to find anyone that stocks them (they're not cheap either).

Anyway, saw that the eX-10 does BT for mobiles...curious if anyone has used one more-so for its handsfree car kit features as the iPhone / streaming media does not really appeal to me in any way...actually makes me cringe thinking of why anyone with a decent system would do that...*ahem* that is another story.

Would like to hear from anyone with experiences with these units :)

Many thanks,
Steve

i know someone that works (or at least did work) for Bury if you are interested in getting a kit i may be able to find out some info

have you tried a Nokia kit? i know alot of Nokias dont work fully with generic kits as both my N95 and 6120 wont upload the phonebook to the Parrot kit i have in my work car
No car, no system, no idea

Howdy Riley.

Thanks for the reply - yeah, anything you can find out about the bury systems would be muchly appreciated :)

FYI, I didn't think Nokia had a genuine kit ? - ie no charging cradle available ? Correct me if I am wrong !

As for the eX-1o units, reviews on the net give it a thumbs down - soooo many BT failures out there !

yeah ill fire off an email.....it might take some time as he has a new born to take care of at the moment but ill see what i can do

are you looking at Bluetooth or just a normal wired car kit? if the N95 is able to connect to a kit via the "mini usb" port on the bottom, im assuming this is how the Bury kit connects and charges the phone. The alternative would be a straight Bluetooth kit that connects to your phone and gives you your phonebook. the only need for a cradle would be if your phone didnt upload the phonebook and you needed to do it via the phone while driving

i would assume that nokia make a kit that is compatible with the N95 although i havent installed one with a screen so that you could see what you are doing to comment. i know they dont upload to the Parrot Bluetooth kits so you have to search for contacts via the phone

it might be worth dropping into your local car audio specialist and having a chat to them as they will deal with this kind of thing on a day to day basis

Hey Riley,

Thanks again mate - appreciated...and yeah no rush or anything obviously - I'm surrounded with friends and their newborns...so I have an idea of how things are :)

All I am after is like one of the old school conventional kits that mutes the radio when there is some phone activity - according to nokia, all they seem to do for the N95 is generic cradles (non charging ones which suck!) and whizzy BT screens etc - see link :

http://www.nokia.com.au/find-products/acce...s/car-solutions

I'll make a couple of calls to some of the car audio places I have dealt with in the past and see what they say. I have an IVA-D900R which obviously does not have any BT connectivity...this may be the restricting factor with N95 integration *shrugs*.

Thanks again for your reply.

Cheers,
Steve

well it might be worth looking at one of the Alpine kits

any kit will do the job, it all depends if you want to be able to upload your phone book and see it on a screen

The Alpine kits offer BT integration in a stand-alone format AFAICT...when all I want is something hardwired to a cradle for charging (N95s are notorious for having ordinary battery life) and muting when I get a call etc

Not overly fussed for having my phonebook appear on a little screen - sure it's the icing on the cake...but need the fundamental features first.

Will call Freeway Car Audio sometime this week and see what they can recommend.

Thanks again,
Steve

hey mate if you want a decent car kit to go with your nokia n95 then take a look at this genuine nokia car kit that is available...(you will probably find a much cheaper one though ebay or somewhere similar)

http://www.dse.com.a...duct/View/E9898

When I brought my BA falcon around 18 months back i had one with a cradle in it but it was only designed for an older nokia pop-port adapters (at the time i didn't have a nokia phone and the nokia pop-port was going out) but the car kit still works like a charm with the bluetooth and if you install it correctly, when the phone rings your head unit will mute and will give you this generic ring (the actual ring tone will come out of the speakers if you have a nokia phone of course) and the button (which is the silver one that says nokia) is able to answer and end calls while there a grey circular module that able to adjust the volume. The only downside is that you are not able to view calls that are made but you can easily get a cradle and mount it somewhere around the dash to view it. In addition, if you have a nokia phone you are able to also play music though the bluetooth and with the GPS if you use it, it will also mute the radio to tell you where to go. Also in the 18 months i had it installed in my car it has never let me down and you can have the ability to add a power cable (i think they might even come with one) to the n95 since its says that on its technical specification.
