Hey guys. This is the first time I've posted aything like this so lets see how I go :)

I'm currently running the Pioneer 9850 headunit with the integrated bluetooth. I installed it myself around 6 months ago into my old car when i bought it, then transferred it into my new car about 4 weeks ago. I may not be a car audio finatic as I'm sure some of you guys are, however I have spent plenty of time messing about with several systems over the last couple of years, and I simply LOVE this headunit. Almost to the point where I would buy another to put in the cupboard in case the one im using ever decides to cark it. (O and i should probably mention that this unit retails at $999, but i only paid $350 knew :D)

so I guess I should start by listing the pros and cons.

Pros;

I find it VERY easy to use. The navigation through the audio, function and display menus is just awesome. the entire thing is navigated basically by using the single volume joystick thingy.

The bluetooth works extremely well. It took some time to work out how to transfer the phone book, but since i have done this using the phone for calling or listening to music through my phone is very simple

The colour screen is beautiful. Very clear and pretty big too considering. some of the coolest animations i have ever seen.

the audio functions this thing has is unbelievable. 16 band graphic equalizer, time allignment and multiple filtering and level options for subs and speakers. the list goes on and on but this review is already getting kinda long!

thought id mention it even has a tachometer and volt meter. no idea how the tacho works, as it only has the ordinary earth, acc power and permanent power wires. im guessing there is some kind of pulse sent from the alt or something? anyways its VERY cool.

Cons;

only major beef is that it can get hard to see what the display says if the sun is shining on it in the wrong direction.

So there u have it. personally i would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking at spending a decent amount on a good head unit. let me know what you guys think :)

Brock.

Hey mate, thanks for the feedback.

According to your tests, have you connected it using the head units internal amplifier and not using external amps to use it as a signal source. If you use it with external amps, the other features may be activated as it senses the signal, such as subwoofer phase, and cross over frequency etc..

Thanks for your details on the head unit. Now tell me if you can get one for me for the same price hee hee!!!
