Hi all,

My girlfriend has just recently bought a MY06 Subaru Impreza and the OEM radio was as expected, pretty poor. She suggested that she would like a new stereo that played MP3, had iPod connectivity and a USB interface.

After a bit of shopping around and researching I found the Kenwood KDC-BT7043U. Having used Kenwood a few years ago I was a little hesitant. But when talking to the guys at Ryda about a few other HUs features, preouts and the like, ended up going for the Kenwood.

I must say, the sound clarity is pretty good. On par with my old Pioneer.

The HU was picked up for just over $300, has F,R,Sub (2v :-S) outputs and has built in Parrot Bluetooth hands free and built in mic.

One downside, it is a little difficult to get used to (1 toggle switch to access menu's and settings), the most frustrating part of which is that to access different settings the joystick has to be pressed for either 1 or 2 seconds.

BUT, for the money it is a good little unit. It is well built, has a lot of tuning features. Throw in the Blue Tooth hands free (that works with the iPhone) all for a little over $300 and you can't go wrong.

All in all, not a bad HU. Good sound quality, well built, packed with features, works with the iPhone as either an iPod (switches the phone into Airplane Mode) or with the Bluetooth hands free (not sure if you can use the iPod via BT yet). Just a little annoying to get used to is all.

If I had to give it a rating out of 10, would easily give it a 7/10.

Cheers.
