Dear Gang

Well, you asked for it.

YOU said you wanted it.

"Build it", you said, "and we will come."

SO WE DID!! May I proudly present....

THE INAUGURAL MEA ACT GHETTO BOX "FULLY SIK BY NINE" CHALLENGE!!!

This competition will be run during the ACT Final on Sunday 25 October. Anyone may enter. Entry is free.

Teh Rulez.
1. First rule of Algebra club. Don't talk about Algebra club. :acute:

2. Competitors must use the official fully sik by nine woofer. This woofer can only be purchased by emailing act@mobileelectronics.com.au for details. No competitor may compete using any recently purchased 10" subs. Either one or both woofers may be used.

3. There is only one class: Teh Ghetto Box sik by nine Class.

4. All boxes built must be below the window line and backwards of the B-Pillar. Anyone caught trying to compete with a box built forward of the B-Pillar will be turned over to the local psych ward. That's just crazy.

5. Anyone attempting to compete using a walled setup, or some random IB SQ setup will suffer the same fate.

6. Competitors get 2 runs to score the highest SPL reading over 30 seconds using test tones, with the probe placed on the passanger side of the windscreen. The two loudest competitors will meet in a head-to-head final.

7. To claim the win, all equipment must still be operating. If you blow it, you blow it.

8. Competitors are limited to a single monoblock amp. Engines may be running.

9. The Man named Shields may compete.

10. Good luck...one and all.

:good:

The MEA ACT Team.

The only excuse for passive crossovers is their low cost. Their behavior changes with the signal level dependent dynamics of the drivers. They block the power amplifier from taking maximum control over the voice coil motion. They are a waste of time, if accuracy of reproduction is the goal.

Go have a cry. :violin:

It wouldn't be much of a comp if it was a free for all in regards to everything.

As we have it, there's only a handful of very lax rules, and the specified speaker to use. And heck for the price of them, who cares.

Oh come on. Thats hardly the point. I dont see any of the major SPL formats saying we all must use 1 brand/type/whatever of speakers and see who can get it the loudest.

It seems kinda pointless now.

Ill see what we can come up with anyway. Me, Jas and Aaron had some big things planned for it. There does that idea now! lol

hahahaha yeah! But my idea of ghetto fun isnt restricted to 2 speakers that we need to buy.

We had big plans using lots of mixed and matched drivers (thats the true definition of ghetto, is it not?), a properly designed box, and a fair bit of power. Now you'se have gone and ruined our idea (the fun part), thus failing at your initial 'ghetto fun' idea/concept.

/thread. LOL :D

Hmm mad89 we should stick to the rules or we wont be able to be fully sick. We will just work out how many speakers we need to buy and get a set each?

Edit: Thinking about it now, if it's ghetto.. it's ghetto.. let people bring all the junk they want and strap it into a box. Where is the fun in saying..

Okay kids time for a game of hide and go seek.. today we will be playing by Code4:RuleG885 of Book 4 we will also be using tip standard ISO55500 with Version 1.5 updates :shok:

hahaha this is true. Dont worry Jason, clearly these ACT n00bs dont think like us smart New South Welshmen. Let them play their 'games', with their 'rules'.

We might still go ahead with our project anyways, and we will slap it in the proper SPL contest, for lulz. You know the other one? That will be ran along side the SQ comp? The one governed by all those 'rules'? Oh wait a minute...

:D hehe

I am perplexed... "Ghetto... Rules" this makes not much sense.

Keep all the other rules, but let us use any 6x9" of standard format... This would then allow for the win juices to flow over everyones faces
