The only excuse for passive crossovers is their low cost. Their behavior changes with the signal level dependent dynamics of the drivers. They block the power amplifier from taking maximum control over the voice coil motion. They are a waste of time, if accuracy of reproduction is the goal.

There you go TDWM those were my two boxes, one sikbynine each but without the full ports which were VERY ROUGHLY tuned to 53hz (very roughly)......

They didn't like my 900wrms each once I turned the headunit into clipping by accident.

I got 136 flat, box tuned to 30hz for home audio use, burped at 44hz from 1000w RMS sitting on the back seat of brad's jukebox charade.

At the next SPL comp i'll have them in my car and feed them an extra couple of kw.

I wish I still had a pair to play with.

With the older (bigger) 6x9s I did 139.x (think it was .7) in my "standard" 1.3 / 40Hz box and around 1200W

140 must be do-able! Come on people!!!!!! :)

how's about I follow the same rule, running a pair of Sound Storm 6X9's and try beat all your scores? except I'm in Adelaide, so the metering would be done at the Ministry of Bass competition coming up next month... wink.gif

we should do this instead of the slightly flawed "$100 from cashys" comp... i could get a couple of xplodes from work and put some phone books and new ports in my ol faithful...

We did 138.9 with a pair of Kenwood 6x9s off a 4 channel amp.

The Rampage 6x9s would only do 136dB :P

A Cashies near us burnt down. they were throwing damaged stock away in the skip bin. My mate and I found a pair of sh1t subs in boxes already and since we had a Termlab we figured we'd take bets whos would be the least quietest.

We proceeded to run them at 2ohm bridged on Sony XM222mk2 in his bunky old Colt. His ported 8s did a massive 119dB where my awesome 4th order bandpass 8s did a staggering 122dB!

It was ridiculous you couldn't even hear the subs.

this is RYDFMX AND my attempt of a ghetto box for my 2 pairs of DD 6x9s. He built the box and i trimmed it in matching carpet

In this case, i used the DDC6x9s i bought from DDPhill some time ago. These are the bigger brothers to the DDCX6x9s.

The enclosure is tuned to 32hz (it is usually in use as a home audio subwoofer in my bedroom with 600w RMS)

The box consists of 18mm mdf with a 32mm baffle and plenty of internal bracing to try and prevent monster enclosure flex. I have flared a couple of sets of ports for spl use and for home audio
