same here, my contract expires start of Nov and i want a flashy new phone

thinking SE Satio or one of the new samsungs that look VERY good.

im not much of a samsung fan, i went the HTC magic, so far so good.

feels nice and solid, the android interface is pretty slick and so far i like it more than the iphones i have used.
Downloaded a few good app's to make it a bit nicer, thanks to Usedbodychoc.

Also if your game you can hack it and swap ROM's, there is a few home brew ones and then there is a few that people have modded like off the new HTC Tattoo which is more social networking focused.

From what i have heard though the Cyanogenmod ROM is the best out there so far... almost tempted to do it.

only downside is the battery life, but it depends on how much you use it and for what, i have mine connected to my WiFi at home constantly, twitter/email updates automaticly etc.

Ive got a Magic too, havent had any dramas with it, the sync works well with my outlook exchange server.

Havent got too many apps, but does everything its supposed to do!

Battery life sucks. Have bought a spare 1350ma battery.

what's battery life like?
my SE k810i will last 5-7 days (~14hrs/day), all it does though is make the very occassional call, txt or photo. no net, music, wifi, etc

My SE K530i used to last 5 days, now i get about 2. plus its started to turn itself off which is what pretty much every one of my last $200 phones are. the SE has probably been the best and most reliable. i will never go back to nokia, will never even look at a motorola again. thinking maybe the x2?

the x2 does look very good, but the samsung omnia hd icon has my eye atm

battery if you only use it occasionally would be 2 - 3 days, i hammer mine a fair bit on the net alot with it, so a day, got it down to about 12 hours once haha

I have a samsung omnia i900 great phone only problem is the battery life max 3 days but usually i use it fair often on wifi and msn etc so i just put it on charge each night before bed.

ive had a samsung galaxy for a while now, battery life sucks, 2-3 days max, the touch keyboard is horribly small and doesnt respond to even my skinny fingers well, it freezes often and takes ages to boot up...

no, just stayed away from Samsung phones - unfortunately they are woeful, unless you're willing to crack them and put on a custom rom. Not to mention absolutely ZERO support here in Oz

Android is an awesome bit of software, but the hardware can make all the difference.

Damn You Telstra!!!! Telstra have just bought down the cost of the HTC Desire to $49 a month and $0 upfront plan... decisions decisions!

eh, i am going with the Nexus One. i do not like telstra and the extra data on the voda plan is worth the extra monies to go the google phone. plus, who needs sense anyways?

I gave in and just ordered a free iPhone 3GS on a plan... Didn't want to pay outright for a Desire or have to move to Telstra

yeah, a big part of the reason i got the Nexus over the Desire was the telstra factor.
