So I've sold (well selling my twin G512s) and want to downgrade to something smaller to fit in the OEM location in the rear quarter panel. I am sick of not having any useable space in my hatch.

What is the best single 8 inch on the market for use in an SQ (doesnt NEED to be loud) system. It will be for competing in sq and general daily use and disconnected for SPL when I compete using a seperate sub/enclosure.

I can switch off any of my amps so for SQ i can choose to only run one monoblock and only >1800w rms and for spl can switch off all speaker amps.

The only excuse for passive crossovers is their low cost. Their behavior changes with the signal level dependent dynamics of the drivers. They block the power amplifier from taking maximum control over the voice coil motion. They are a waste of time, if accuracy of reproduction is the goal.

I dont think the JL is "the best" and it is looking like being too deep for the application. I'll definately try it out before ruling it out :)

for the Jeep?

Nothing. unless you plan on putting it up in the dash.

an 8in is not a sub :P

anyway, if you have to.. probably the 8W7
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

The best 8's I've heard have been the Peerless SLS and Rainbow Vanadium - both very nice sounding subs.

Morel Ultimo is another I'd be looking at - according to the price list they have an 8" model available, though I haven't been able to find any information about them (outside of TS specs and RRP). No pictures, no reviews, no comments - nothing.

The W7 and Focal Utopia are two others I'd be taking a good look at - haven't heard either myself, but if reputation is anything to go by they seem to be worth a look in.

:)

I am too looking for a 8inch sub and like the look of the 8inch JL 8w7.
But i am going to run it IB and was wondering if this sub would suit IB at all.

what do you mean OEM location I'm pretty sure the 8w7 might not fit

Might be better to go with something like Focal Utopia all a Morel.

8w7 awesome sub

I would get 8w7 but I'm not sure it will go in OEM

the w7 8" would work well for IB aslong as you have a subsonic in place at 35hz.

going under FS for IB = very bad idea, but they have a Q of about 0.6 which is great for IB.
