Ok.
I am almost ready to build my car PC.
have decided to go with this
http://store.mp3car.com/Ultimate_Micro_Int...r_p/ccc-208.htm
My head unit has an auxillary in so i will just go from the sound output of the pc stright into my Alpine head unit and control sound from there.
I may even add one of these if i think the sound quality is lacking from on board sound http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/pc_co...ex/ud-01/257413
all i need then is a screen.
What sort do people recomend and how big?
It's for a landcruiser 80 series.
Almost There Got all the parts except screen.

bump for an old thread
I've got a liliput 629GL that has been removed from it's casing and placed in to a double din housing. I had this installed a few weeks ago for testing and it worked fairly well, had trouble in direct sunlight but you'll have this problem with any screen that isn't transflective. You can pickup the screen from mp3car and the housing from bybyte.
My main hate with this screen is the LED backlight doesn't go dark enough and there is no option to turn the backlight off completely, sure you can turn the whole screen off but then you lose all touch and the pc thinks you've disconnected the usb cable and will need to redetect the touch controller when the screen is turned back on. This is only a problem at night on roads with no or little lighting, country/hills etc.

my screen has a dimmer which can be hooked up to the ill. wire, so it's not as bright when you turn on the head lights.
oh, that was a mod I did.. works well.
