laptop help!

hey i recently got a laptop and have been reasearching how to make it into a carputer,i cant quite understand how to do powersupplys with laptops, and so it will hibernate when i turn the car of and stuff, any chance someone could link me to a power suply that will work with a laptop and im not sure if i need a shut down, start up controller, thanx in addvanced as i am really lost and would love some advice

A generic approach will be to use these items:

For the actual power supply look for a car adapter specific to your laptop, alternatively carnetix/opus make variable voltage dc-dc psu's that you may be able to match up to your laptops dc input.

You also have the option of using an inverter, however watch out for cheap units with modified sinewave outputs as they will produce a loud audible buzz, introduce hum in to audio and cause the inverter/ac-dc converter to get quiet hot when used with your typical switchmode pc power supply.

good idea. to hibernate the power of the laptop while the car is off. I want to know how to install the laptop in car. how it connect to the power of the car.
