hey guys which would be the preferable set up with 2 12's in the opinions of such car audio experts as yourselves, the digital desgins 9912 series or the orion H2, maybe even new punch subs. Would be powered off a phd5000.

Well the 91's aren't coming out for a little while longer so that may also influence your decision.

Any reasoning behind those particular subs mentioned? If not then the ID or RE subs would also be worth a listen.

what's your budget?

i don't think you'd be disappointed with either.

as noted, how about an ID Max, RE XXX, or PG Ti Elite?

there are many other options

I've heard good things about both, can only comment on the H2, but you really wont be dissapointed with th H2, awsome sound and excellent power handling means loud and clear, but any of those suggested would be excellent. I have heard great things about RE XXX and ID Max

They've been available in Australia since July.

We have both the 9110 and 9112 in stock.

The new 9115 will be here early September.

which one do you like the look of, have the $$ for and suit's your needs?

both will work well in the correct box, the DD may go a little louder if you have the power but other than that both should sound quite nice..
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

i have $2000 to play with for subs, box is irrelevant i can make it to suit whatever i go with, i will want it ported for vs commodore rear firing, i am being tempted to go with orion for the difference that not everyone runs them, what u think? i was originally going to go IDmax but thought against it due to the power handling as opposed to say the H2 or DD subs

The DD will handle as much, if not more than any sub you've mentioned :)

If it was me, i'd go DD, but im a proud member of the DD Fan club, I just like the way they hit hard enough to knock your teeth out and sound amazing doing so. i have a sneaky feeling this thread is going to end up like the one a few threads down so i am giong to state my opinion and wait to be flamed:)

For me, id go DD but at the end of the day, personal preference prevails, listen to what you can and make an informed decision weighing up what you like from what youve heard and what you think you'll like from what other people say :)

Apologies Phil - I thought that I remembered you posting a while ago until them not being availible until "mid-year". Forgot to check my clock - but it's already midyear!!!! :D

$2K is going to get you a fair amount of sub although I don't think that it would quite cover two (2) of most of those subs suggested. Any reason as to why you were leaning towards two?
And the box question is a good one - I know you mention that you have a commonwhore - but how much of your boot are you going to be sacrificing in the pursuit of SQ??? If it were SPL orientated then I could understand the concept of devoting ones whole boot to a sub box - but the intentional inefficiency of SQ subs will prevent "earth-shattering-ness".
(NOTE: I understand that there are many SQ systems that are loud - but 2-3 cufts ported per 12" would still be considered overkill and that is alot less than a commonwhore boot)

Anyways - as you say the Orions certainly have the "unknown" feel about them and if they can handle the power then I am sure they will make a fair bit of noise. The DD's will of course handle the power easily as will the XXX's. Both the DD and the RE have "unknown" value as well though - DD in terms of in an SQ car (although all their woofers are capable of sounding good) and the XXX in terms of their limited importation into Oz.

Let us know which way you go
