so i actually worked out my avh-p7850 has an optical output.... YAY!!!.....
i know what a DAC is and what it does, but whats the go in a car. for home audio its pretty simple... in and out of the DAC. In a car what kind of processor would you use??? it would have to have the 8 ch outputs for hi/mid/low/sub but what is there available for car purpose?
is it worth it??????????????
cheers guys...

The Alpine Processors PXA-H700/H900/etc., Pioneer DEQ-P9/etc. and the Audison BitOne are the only multi-channel DACs built specifically for car purposes.
Alpine are the only ones which do DTS/Dolby Digital surround.
2-channel (stereo) DACs have been made by Nakamichi, PPI, Denon and a couple of others.
is it worth it? depends on what you expect. for the most part, there's no real advantage, except for over-the-top SQ systems: In which case you'd likely be modifying whatever you have.

so i have the dvd function but i barely ever use it. honestly dont care about surround or anythin just runnin active 3 way and thats it. stereo for me.
that then brings up the next question.... is it possible to mod my deck??? what would be the go?? new dac in the unit and balanced lines or would just be better off running an outboard dac??? ahhhhhhhhhhhhh i hate this.
i am set on trying to get the best sound i can. i have a 300/2 and ZR-800's on the way soon, relocating everything. spoke to bruce aswell recomended just put eights on the floor and that was the idea i was thinking too. loved the sound of the pulsar
so like i was saying im getting into this and anything to improve is on my list.......its a big list already heh......
any help is awesome. i live on car stereo's...........
cheers mate

if you can get the speaker locations right, then you don't need T/A or active XO.. but you know that. the
300/2 is for the midbass?

how did i know you were goin to say that.
got a pair of old jbl 15 monitor drivers. i could just run em IB on the floor..................................... hehehehe
besides dont have the money to buy dyn otherwise it would be bigger. this is sq on a kinda halfish budget. but just cos i dont have the cash doesnt mean i wont spend as much time possible tuning and playin with it to get the best sound i can from what i got.
300/2 for them. should do them nicely JL say 800CW takes 125rms sealed or bout 150 175 IB over 50 HZ. should do nice for em. just gotta descide between IB and sealed. im thinkin sealed, but im getting told these sound great IB.
cheers guys

Some IB woofers can tend to sound a bit floppy also, more dynamic at the expense of accuracy.

A properly tuned 8 channel system is the killer. Just have to do some study before you could get it right.
