Hi All, thanks for a great weekend.

Congrats to all the competitors - YOU are what makes MEASQ fun and rewarding for all of us.

Thanks to Ozbliss for challenging (and defeating) me in the state series. Without the constant challenge, I probably wouldn't have done so well in the end.

Broadz - awesome motel, will definitely be back there.
Danny and Matt - Thanks for liking my sound... still more improvements to make (Yes, I am allowed to compete next season) :)
Blanky... "it was Blanket." and TEG - I need to finish my install now.

Everyone else - yay! see you in 2010

We had an easy drive back, and now I'm relaxing before going back to work.

I too would like to thank everyone that was involved in not only for Nationals but for making MEA what it is.

What an awesome weekend, it was one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time,
A great bunch of people, great place, great weather and great amounts of alcohol :D

It's the social aspect that keeps me coming to the comps and as this was my first season I will defiantly be looking forward to next year if for nothing else other than just the Nationals weekend and spending time with quality people.

Cheers
Daniel

Well, finally have a minute to jot down some thoughts and thankyous.

Firstly a huge thankyou to Damo, who happily picked me up, dropped me off, and chauffered me around even though i'm a wee bit out of his way. Can't thank you enough for this. I felt pretty poor coming back from Perth the night before (and having been away for the previous 2 weeks), and really couldn't be bothered driving an incomplete, untuned car all the way to Lakes, especially since it desperately requires a service (which it goes in for on Thursday).

Secondly a huge thankyou to Marc, without you this would not be possible at all. You really do go above and beyond to make MEA and MEASQ the huge success it is today.

Thirdly all the competitors, judges, and enthusiasts who came along and made the event (and the entire season) what it was.

The weekend was an absolute blast, great to get away with like minded people, sink a few brews and enjoy a hobby we all love.

I hope to get some pics up later today, if not some time this week.
Sadly catching up on 2 weeks worth of work, and still having to conduct training today and tomorrow means free time at work is a wee bit scarce at the moment :P

What about pissing on your phone, then it not accepting your SIM card anymore, then having your way with the Ford Laser in the carpark, and headbutting the large bush next to the stairs?

And telling me to fix it because I was sober, I can't believe you told me you pissed on it and yet I still held it, pulling it apart *facepalm*

Was definitely and awesome weekend.

Also keen to know the verdict on if fury has a serious head injury or not, was pretty lulz, but ouch at the same time. And who could forget good old blankey? Need I say more? lol

I'd like to thank yous all for putting up with me, and to Mat for letting us stay the night, and also rick for driving me

:good:

i think its about time i posted up properly hey..

Thanks:
- Marc for kicking off MEA 10 years ago, and continuing the passion we call car audio and its associated comps.. you surely deserved the "Above & Beyond" award.. i think you received a standing ovation when it was given to you.. without you, we wouldnt be here today.. sharing a few brews with like minded enthusiasts..

- Dan (broadz) for organising the motel (which was awesome!), the venue for the comp itself, and the dinner/function rooms..

- The trohy manufacturer (i believe its Cruiser?) for lovely looking trophies..

- The judges for putting in the hours judging cars, etc..

- Daniel (the toad) for putting up 1 of the beds for me for the weekend..

- The competitors for making the event what it is.. If it wasnt for you guys, comps probably wouldnt run..

- Everyone for helping make my weekend an enjoyable affair.. as some knew, i was having a rough week and used the weekend for reflection & time away.. It has worked in my favour.. so thanks to all who listened, talked and joked about..

- Lastly.. Jack Daniels for being my best mate all weekend.. :P

I've gone through my 300+ pics, filtered most and just doing some minor touches before hosting them on my Photobucket.. should be in the next day or few..

I had an absolute ball this last weekend.. was what the doctor ordered for me, and it payed off..

Bit late putting in my 2c for this thread, and most have already been thanked, but just quickly...

Marc, for all the reasons already mentioned - your passion and hard work has made MEA what it is today and we all have you to thank for the many friendships created as a direct result of this site. The award and standing ovation were greatly deserved mate.

Dan, for organising the accommodation and location for the comp - both were fantastic spots.

the judges for their work on the day of the competition - it got pretty hot in those cars which can make judging quite a laborious task. well done.

all the competitors who made the trek, particularly Riley - mate, hardcore effort coming all the way from QLD. props to Rick, Matt, Wazz, Chris, Aaron and James also.

those who listened to my car and gave me such nice feedback. also those who let me listen to their car, matt your car is sounding really good and i hate to say it, but there's still a ton of potential in there to come.

whoever suggested the movies on sunday - best decision ever. STEVE!!

everyone in general - megan and i had a fantastic weekend sharing laughs and drinks with you all, especially the copious amounts of scotch consumed on Saturday night...

quote of the weekend - "how do you get half sucked? you either do or you don't - it's like digital"

i took quite a few pics, but unfortunately quite a few didnt come out very good with my camera picking up alot of sun glare on the day of the comp

hi guys, probably time I put something up!!

First of all, the thankyouse. All of the organisers this year did a brilliant job. After doing my best on last year's finals, I can truly take my hat off to Broadz who came up with the goods! Perfect weather, great accomodation, very good dinner (would've scored 8's or 9's but they missed my "rare" bit of the "medium-rare" steak order  damn mexicans!), a location to die for - awesome stuff mate! Marc of course, who did just enough this year and the last decade to scrape over the line and win the innaugural "Above and Beyond" award. Don't listen to what they say about you mate - I think you're alright

Thanks to all of the competitors who made the big drive from interstate too - it makes it into a truly national competition which is so rewarding for everyone!

To the winnnorz - winning or placing at this level requires enormous dedication and focus, so well done! To those who were narrowly pipped at the post (you know who you are!) we'll be back next year with better systems and better installs, so look out! Congratulations to ~Spyne~ by the way, for a whole bunch of different reasons this year!

Big thanks to all and sundry who made the whole weekend a blast. Coming to these events is what its all about - it puts faces to the names, character and life to the words on the internet :D

As for me? I had a cracker of a weekend which started when my house was invaded by a bunch of snarly interstate SQ'ers. Then another one ended up showed up at 3am ("aawww nah matty I've been working soooo haard, and then installing allll niiiight....:violin:)...

We were on the road by 9am, nothing short of a damn miracle in my book, and cruised easily down to Lakes with a spot of lunch in the oh so classy Cann River. From then on it was beers aplenty (which I managed to con 2loud2old into going halves with me in a case then promptly loading the lot into my fridge - ooops! sorry mate!) and a proper catch up with the crew over dinner. It must be in the air as I counted at least 4 of us (Me, Marc, Damo, Brian) who are engaged and couldn't be happier :D

Saturday was eminently reasonable. Perfect weather, a late start and a good crew overlooking beautiful beaches and blue skies. Fury and I got cracking with the cars, expecting to spend no more than the official 10 minutes per car. 45 minutes later we got out of Pulse-R's, um, Pulsar, and decided we'd better get a move on! Despite the heat, we were both blown away by the quality of this year's expert class which was shown in the final scores.

Saturday night was more fun and games, the only downside is that at about 2am I sat down with another beer, cracked the top and the last stragglers stood up and announced they were going to bed. PPPPOOOOOOOOOOOOR EEEFFFFFFOOOORRT!!!!!!! :acute:

Sunday? Ummm, I got to drive a new twin turbo Beemer really fast? oooooh yeahhhhhh......

all in all, a cracker of a weekend! WOOOOOOOOTTTT!!!!!!!

cheers guys

What a great weekend, almost everything went 100% to plan.

Cheap accomodation for all
Great weather
Great location
Motel to ourselves without a single complaint from the owners
Great BBQ (thanks Riley & Danny)
Nice cool swimming pool/spa
Awesome effort to those who travelled long distance (especially Riley's 18+ hr drive)
Was good to meet a few new people (interstaters)
Good to hear some bloody good systems.

Congrats to all the winners/runner ups! you have obviously worked hard throughout the year to get where you are and the hard work has paid off.
