hey again..

everythings so new on this site and i dunno where i can search for threads.

my problem is, i need amps soon (either a 4or2 channel and a monoblock). im not too fussed on a budget, but i want to spend as least as possible. im not planning to take out CAASQ - just something i can listen to :P
i am planning to run soundstream splits (150wrms) and a xtant sub (500wrms)

i have a choice between PG, ALPINE and JAYCAR and they basically have the same specs.

PG - 5.0:4 and 8.0:1 (~$800)
ALPINE - MRV-F540 and MRD-M500 (~$800)
JAYCAR - 4or2 channel and Monoblock (~$500)

just wondering if any people out there have anything against or for any one of these brands or models.

thank you

personally having only used the alpine combo i can say one great thing about the MRV-F540 is the crossover adjustability. HP/LP/BP up to 8khz, allowing you to run active splits without another external active crossover.
Other than that, the power out put of the alpine combo is more than sufficient for my car and listening habits.
The other combos mentioned i have not used so i am not able to compare:)

Too be honest I would go the PG out of that list but I think alot of people will recommend the jaycar, I havent exaclty been able to compare the two :(. If its just something for you to listen to your music I would go for something like the SRx3, and nowadays its only about $570. IMO it is better than the alpine stuff and really is good value. :)

I'd also vote a 2nd for the Phoenix Gold amps as well out of those three.

Would recommend Audison above them without a doubt though :)

SRx2 ($299rrp) and SRx1 ($599rrp)

Also take into account Phoenix Gold lists all figures for their Octane amps in peak output, rather then continuous / rms.

i.e. their 2x75w Octane R amp is actuall I think 2x45 or 2x50 rms.

Response, Alpine and Audison all quote in RMS.

SRx2 and SRx1 are rated at 2x65 and 1x210 @ 4ohm / 1x350 @ 2ohm respectively.
