I can understand what you're saying - the XXLS is a exceptionally accurate sub, but I understand that it's not everyones taste. :)

How much power does your amp produce at 4ohm?

If you have a good amount of power available, then I'd give the Eclipse SW8200 a very serious look in - over 30mm of xmax, and somewhere around 700w power handling. They play VERY low in around 30L sealed - but the catch is that you absolutely can't use it in a ported box (Eclipse forbids it, and clailm that it will void your warranty). Brilliant sounding sub, with exceptionally low distiortion (a TC Sounds design). Downside is very low sensitivity, hence why I'd only recommend it if you have a good amount of power available :)

IDMAX is another option that's very easy to recommend for what you're seeking - not quite as pure as the XXLS or Eclipse sonically, but it can be a ton of fun! Used it within it's limits (up to about 80hz) they are a pretty nice sounding sub. Metaphorically, the XXLS is James Bond while the IDMAX is a little 'Rambo' - they can definately be a lot of fun. Plus they look mighty badass when invert-mounted :D

Edit: Don't worry, I replied before I saw your last post
