I know this is Hifi and it's not as easy to just move our speakers up, down, back, forward. However I thought it was really interesting.
These are the setup instructions for my Genesis III speakers (circa ~1990) and I believe I have the only pair this side of the globe! They retailed for $25,000 USD back in their day and are in brilliant condition, particularly considering they've been privately shipped to Australia by the original owner. They stand nearly 6 feet tall!

Might be worth buying a few of the discs mentioned in the instructions, which I've found at www.elusivedisc.com

Have a read!

Move the speaker back by 1mm???

To listen to these, do you have to strap into head gear and bolt your head still? LOL

You could have Adam, but then you would have had to spend the small fortune I have redoing the passive crossovers and electronics, and restoring the drivers to their former glory! :)

meh, valves mostly sound soft... I have only been massively impressed by one valve amp (well, two monoblocks actually) . problem is, the designer only built one pair - at parts cost ~$5k each.
pretty they are with 4x 1kW mercury rectifier power supply. not bad for a 30W class A amplifier.

like this, but this isn't the one I mean:

Hmmm, I don't think I have ever heard valves being described as sounding "soft". In any case, it wins it's class almost every night when I judge it. And that's all that matters :)

sorry Marc, I wasn't trying to detract from your amps - how can anyone judge them without hearing them.. They can't. Simple.

and knowing your requirements for precision sound, I think they wouldn't last long if they were no good.

But you have to admit, the purple/blue glow from those Mercury Rectifiers is pretty.
