Lucky for me, that wasn't a major issue at all.

I was after the alarm to actually stop/deter ppl from breaking in to my car.

Integrates well with my standard remote, so I don't have to lug around a 2nd remote control. The GPS tracking is cool though...and so is the communication back and forth via SMS...

It "works"....but it won't start your car. I'm pretty sure of that. Both Directed and Phatt Audio told me it can't be done...And I've got the Viper 5902 Alarm...

how much did you pay for your 5902... im looking at getting one very soon but was unsure on how much etc..

Can it be used to start a diesel - ie allowing for glow plugs to warm up first?

Marc, on 06 May 2010 - 11:39 AM, said:

I believe traditional remote starts (from Viper anyway) have a setting for diesel and petrol for that very reason.
Given this still uses a normal viper remote start alarm, and the iPhone side just interfaces with that, then yes is my educated guess :)

Interesting! Might have to go have a chat with Brett @ Phatt...

I can't remember...I went to Phatt Audio here in Melbourne and they sorted it all out for me. I don't ask them how much...as price isn't an issue/concern.

As Marc mentioned, it can be put into diesel mode. Put simply it warms before cranking/starting. Leave the technology to us, where there is a will there is a way! Posted Image

Correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't something like the 5601 with the basic remote do exactly the same trick if you were planning on using the factory remotes still??

Also SmartStart is operational in Australia now for anybody that stumbles across this thread...

Any updates on remote start with CAN Bus???

Hi Guys,

Remote start can be done on any vehicle. There is a variety of methods for overriding the factory transponder / immobiliser during the remote start sequence of a Viper system or any other remote start security system. There is a universal bypass module avaialble which is easy to install and use and can be done for around $200-250 for any vehicle. We do them all the time. We are a Viper Gold Dealer for Australia (NSW) and fit heaps of these all the time. For the VE you will need a transponder chip copied from your vehicles factory key / transponder and inserted in a bypass module either a TBXKEY or 556U.

Anyway its a cool system the SmartStart (iPhone) system we have done quite a few , the GPS tracking, locating and alarm alerts is great for $99 a year.

Hi mate,

Yes your car is able to be done, you will require the DB-ALL bypass unit which is $199 inc GST supplied and fitted we keep them in stock. CANBUS would you believe is often a better option rather than a hinderance.

Even if you have the SMART Proxi Key its able to be done.

We have special programmers and software designed to suit most modern CANBUS cars, if there is no software available we use the universal bypass.

:)

Let me know if you need more information, but can definately be done.

Kind Regards,

Mmmmm.. smartstart..

I won the smart start competition at Autobarn Narre Warren whilst at the MEASQ/Bass Battle comp that was held there..

Big thanks to Craig for hooking me up with not only the smart start but also a viper alarm.. winning the smartstart prompted me to act on something i'd wanted for the last 2 years i had the wagon.

I've also opted for the $99 subscription which is great.. so much fun!

certainly worth looking into! :)

Hi Guys,

This week Directed Electronics finally officially released a specifically designed CANBUS adaption for the VE Commodore and FG Ford Falcon for the remote engine start systems.

So if you where waiting for remote engine start on these cars Carbon is now offering a solution. As mentioned in previous post you will still need a RFID transponder chip to be inserted into a transponder bypass module as well as the VE or FG CANBUS interface module. This can either be your spare key, or you can get another one cut / copied. Carbon has facilities to arrange this.

Anyone wanting SmartStart (Phone alarm operation) can now get it for these vehicles attached is some information.

Carbon is a Viper Gold Dealer for NSW so we have the entire Viper Range in stock and have plenty of experience for these systems and also have a Bitwriter and XKLoader for programming the Viper Range.

Enjoy guys looks like good news for everyone now.

Any questions feel free to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Daniel

What about voiding your insurance by having a transponder chip or spare key fitted inside an immobiliser bypass module? If the car was stolen and found and investigated, the insurance company could void your insurance on the grounds that your immobiliser was able to be bypassed
