Given the ff:

- Tweeter installed in A-pillar
- Vehicle is Hyundai Santa Fe (SUV)
- HU is Alpine 505 + H701
- Amp is JL HD900/5 (4x100w rms + 1x500w rms)
- Subs is JL 13TW5 (sealed)
- 2 layers Dynamat Xtreme deadening on doors

Can you rank Focal 165KRX2, Hertz MLK165, DLS Iridium 6.2 (all 2-way seps) if your priority is: (Driven active with 100w x 4 rms)

a) SQ
b) SQL (Loud and Clear)

I have heard the MLK165 and i would consider it in the "B" category. They do sound quite nice (i auditioned the splits at a reasonable volume) but would have the capability to take your head off.

Then again, you are going to be running it active so you would be able to tone it down a little bit if you wish.

Out of that list I'd take the Focal.

what if your priority is a warm, sweet and rich sounding music but sometimes gets loud (like 15% of the time). would you still go for the same speakers you've mentioned?

Btw, for those who have heard the krx and the k2p, how would you characterize the tweeter's sound of the krx relative to the k2p

Thanks

I wouldn't buy any of those listed then. Focal are at the opposite end of the spectrum to warm, sweet and rich, the DLS are a very neutral sounding speaker so they can be aggresive, warn etc.. depending on the music, and the Hertz I don't have much knowledge of so they may be suitable.

Personally if that is your preference in sound go buy a set of Moral's.

Thought I'd throw another spanner into the equation. Just on the DLS, the new Nordica and Gothia speakers are now available in Australia and they are priced pretty well IMO. The Nordica splits are $1149 and the Gothia are $1049.

Id also add Crescendo Opus 8.6 and/or Opus 9.6 to that audition list. :)

But if you only want to stick to that list, then personally, id go Focal, DLS, Hertz. In that order.
