Hi guys have looked around quite a bit and cant seem to find a solution to my problem, i would be very greatful for some tips or info on how to fix my sound system, i have 6 speakers, 1 amp and 1 sub set up connected to a kenwood stereo and it works great going forward or straight but whenever i take a right turn in my car be it sharp or not my speakers crackle and sometimes the head unit goes into protect mode.

I have tried taking the head unit out and making sure all the wires are connected properly with no actual wire showing/touching, i checked under dash/steering column for loose wires and checked sub and amp connections to no avail, im all out of options to try, so i thought i would ask some people with more experience with sound systems.

Thanks for reading! and i hope i posted this in the right place.

It sounds very much like a short in one of the speaker wires, it sounds like when you are turning right either the speaker terminals are touching on the car body or a wire is pinched somewhere and turning right makes it short.

What kind of car is it? and does it have aftermarket speakers in it?

Speakers in the rear shelf... One of the terminal blocks will be broken off and when you go around corners the tinsel leads either touch the body, basket of the speaker or each other...

The amplifier has a small packet of 'warning smoke.' When you do silly things to it, it lets out the warning smoke to make you think something is damaged when it isn't.

Of course something is damaged! There was smoke!

Do you have your h/u power connected directly to the battery? Check that the connection there is okay and even if it's not connected to the battery check that the battery is tightly secured and the positive terminal isn't touching anything metal. Same thing happened to me, first I noticed whenever I did right turns my stereo would reset. I tried a hard swere and the whole car stalled, thank god there wasn't any oncoming traffic. Turned out the battery was loose and the positive terminal was touching the battery clamp

Does anything else go out? Temporarily loss of ignition? Gauges go dead?

Nope noticed this morning though, before it goes into protect mode its only the speakers that stop/pause/crackle and the sub keeps going strong until it goes into protect all 6 of the speakers go out/crackle. (2 small tweeters on dash and the other 4 in normal spots)

Okay just a sidenote i went down and played music very loud and pulled and moved around every cord i could find coming out of it and off my battery and off the amp and worked fine, also i only just noticed when i have volume really high on very heavy bass songs (pendulum - the other side) that as the sub goes the screen lighting on my kenwood stereo dims slightly and goes back to normal repeatedly

sucks driving without music!! cant find a thing wrong with it.. considering looking for a place in perth that does stereo repairs now

check the tinsel leads on drivers side(it may be left but odds are with right) door speaker. I am guessing they are touching the door metal when you turn. Just cover the metal with some duct tape if its the problem

checked it and its fine no exposed metal and the connectors wouldnt be touching door as theres a good 4cm gap, going to wait till tomorrow to check the left side as i snapped one of the brittle bottom door clips taking door trim off to check speaker, lets hope thats it but very doubtful as right side looked very neat and organised

really, you have to check every single speaker and wiring connection in the system.

Upon looking at rear speakers i found a 2 small metal clips magnetised onto the back left speaker and i took them off, and then took for a test drive and no more problem :| could just be cooncidental and its just stopped momentarily but hopefully its fixxed for good!!! Thanks for your help guys
