Hey guys,

Got the sh!ts with my Alpine CDA-9855 and took it out of the car permanently yesterday due to the unit reseting every now and again and decided to put in a 9886 that i had laying around.

My question is, to get some of the features i had with the 9855, is it better for me to get the Imprint module for the 9886 or just get a different head unit all together? I know the P80rs is an older unit (wasnt this compared to the 9855 when they first came out?) but i really like the look of it and will match my dash and the rest of my gear very well. Sound tuning features dont look to bad either and Pioneer have one on the clearance site for just a tad above $500.00

Just some opinions on what route you would go if you were in my position.

personally i'd get the p80rs
- good eq @ 16bands left and right (better than alpine's limited parametric)
- functional crossovers
- time alignment
- an auto-eq that works quite well
- looks HOOOOT

Spyne, have you used this unit before? I had a look at youtube to see what the interface etc was like and cosmetically i thought it was ok. Will take a while to get used to something other than Alpine though. All my previous decks and family members decks are Alpine which would explain why its just that much easier to use for me.

Yeah +1. Top quality unit. Looks so very refined and classy. Ease of tuning would be the winner, compared to the apline, as ren said.

I didn't like the tuning of the P80, but it worked well. a lot better SQ than imprint IMHO.
