I was thinking about these 2 different combinations...and wondering what the major differences would be between them.

Obviously the F#1 Status gear is Alpine's flagship product, so u would expect it to b "better"...

For most ppl tho, the first combo there is quite sufficient for them and will do 99.99% of things that they need.

What audible difference do u think there would b with the F#1 gear?

In any system, it's only as strong as it's weakest link - so in a system like mine with the Boston amps (which are good, but not totally awesome) would any difference the F#1 gear had b negated by the weakest link?

Any comments/thoughts?

with the engine running you wont hear a difference, in a quiet garage locked inside your car yes you will hear the difference :)

Q: How do you know if you're too drunk to drive? A: You swerve to miss a tree then realise it's the air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror.

It looks prettier :P

I did notice a difference when going from the 7998r to the 7990 (previous f1 status)...
It wasn't like omfg where have you been all my life, but it was a slight improvement.

Well since I went from a similar setup (W200 with H701 to the F#1 DVI PXI combo. Yes you will hear the difference. Yes it is worth it. However, for ease of use the 9861 and H701 is the winner hands down. PXI is not fun but you get the hang of it.

You will hear things you didn't hear before in the music

You can hear the difference - even when driving - the sound is clearer and more defined. it becomes a new sound instead of the car's background noise.

an un-modded H701 is the worst of the 3 you have, the F#1 is the best.

If the H701 was modded, where would you rate it then?

about equal (but more user-friendly) with the P90 combo.

still more mods to do though, might get it up to F#1 eh? maybe.
