Guys I have a JL Audio 13W7 I am planning to insall in my VL commodore. I am not looking for an SPL system just a good alround sub and hoping you experienced guys may have some ideas that can help me out.

I am open to all ideas on design but if anyone can help with some dimensions to get the ball rolling it would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty handy on the tools just need the right direction.

thanks

13W7-D1.5? or 13W7-3?

I'm assuming you also would like a sealed enclosure for an "all-round" sounding setup?

What dimensions do you have to work within your boot?

What amp? Budget? Other equipment?

What does the manual recommend for enclosures? This is usually a good reference point.

Sorry guys, if you need more info just say so, ill do my best as really appreciate the help. I suppose I was hoping somebody had a template or something to help get started. But was hoping to get as close to optimum enlosure I can for the sub.

Tiger: I have the duel 1.5 13w7. The VL boot is a little difficult to explain as it has a hump behind the back seat that then drops down. I have attached a pic to help explain.
width between shock towers = 940mm
height from parcel tray to hump in floor 290mm
height from parcel tray to boot floor 440mm
The hump is approx 300mm deep at bottom before it drops off.

Thanks Chaos I have most my gear already. Open to suggestions on compatability and setup
I have new Slash series JL amps 1000/1 + 2x 300/2 + 450/4.
Speakers I am running with at the moment are 3 way MB Quart Q series 164 midbass kit in doors and 5.25" Q series full rane components which I have already made custom kicks to accomodate.
I have ZR800 8 inch midbass drivers aswell but may be a future upgrade.
PXA-H701 + Rux
Headunits (7998R, 7949, 9835, 9887)

The manual recomends 1.875 cu .ft or 53.1 litres. They show dimentions for a square box but i am looking for a custom fit enclosure to fit my car.

This is where I get stuck as I am not sure how I am to get that volume with the shape boot I have to work with.

cheers guys

the specs of the 13W7-D1.5 are slightly biased towards a 'sealed' box, but ported is do-able. modelling the specs, i'd suggest:

*sealed 2.0~2.5cuft/56~70L nett internal volume
*ported 3.5cuft/99L nett, with port tuning the box to 30Hz

:)
