Just spotted this on Blaupunkts website. Seems to have some very nice features including 3-way active mode, auto T.A, full parametric eq, switchable internal amp, usb/bluetooth/ipod/sc card etc. I haven't used Blau gear since my Velocity pro amps and speakers about 7 yrs ago, so I have no idea what its like now. But I was very impressed with their stuff back then.

Anyone got any info on these? Pricing and maybe an imported/distributor name so I can check these out a bit more.

The amplifier has a small packet of 'warning smoke.' When you do silly things to it, it lets out the warning smoke to make you think something is damaged when it isn't.

Of course something is damaged! There was smoke!

an evolution of the bremen mp74/76 which were pretty good headunits a few years ago, though they never really sold that well here in Aus
looks like it has ability for 2-way active + sub (crossovers), time alignment of some sort, and very decent eq - 7-bands parametric for EACH output (FR/FL/RR/RL), ability to turn internal amplifier off

the previous models were priced rather high though - $999rrp or there abouts.

They have been discontinued, they were released almost two years ago, Ryda are getting rid of them for $850 which isn't a massive saving.
I have the pre MP74 San Fran cd72, I would like to replace it but I think I'll just wail until a decent DAB+ HU comes out.

Mine was made in 2004(I think) it has a 13band self adjusting EQ with time alignment for each speaker, it also uses the tuning mic to increase output as road noise goes up. I don't really know what is happening with Blau, from what I can see it seems the Velocity line might be gone along with anything else decent that they had.

A three band semi parametric EQ is all they offer now.

Blaupunkt have shown a few flashes of brilliance over the years but the current range looks pretty poor from where I can see. None of the products in the new range seem to offer anything substantial that would make anyone consider buying them over somethings from a more recognized brand. IMHO they're another brand Australia simply doesn't need.

They have seem to have stopped doing anything innovative since they split with Bosch, I don't know why they got rid of Blau as Bosch do OEM HU's under the Bosch brand now for a few European car manufacturers.

If I see an MP78 cheap I'll snap one up for sure but none of their other products are of interest if Velociy is gone.

Well they are difinately only a two way active HU which is a bit of a bummer but the EQ seems to be pretty nuts, allowing you to adjust Q on all seven freq's, select crossover slope and charachteristics, it also lets you adjust every parameter after it does an auto EQ.

Since my last HU was a Blau it only needed one extra wire soldered on as the old unit had two permanent +12V supplies for some reason and this only has one and the earth wire is on a different plug to the previous HU.

I used the new mike on my old San Francisco and performed an auto EQ then connected the Bremen and did the same thing, I found the sound to be slightly more dull(?) than from the San Fran but the imaging was a bit better.

I now need to learn how to manually adjust the EQ and read up on Q adjustments.

At the moment I much prefer the controls on the old San Fran and the fact that it gave you a pre/post readout graph of the output at all of the EQ frequencies which made setting gains a bit easier for the lazy folk like me. I think the Bremen will win me over but it looks a bit cheap and the volume knob has no knurling and is made of shiny plastic so it's a bit slippery, still happy for the price I paid.

Oh it can take a 32gb SD card of MP3's which is pretty cool for an older unit.

Well I've had a bit more of a play around and I'm really impressed, there is a USB port on the rear of the HU which is supposedly for firmware updates only. I slapped a cable in the HU and plugged a 500GB HDD in to see what would happen and it seems it plays exactly the same as the SD card slot which is awesome.

So I have 3.5mm input, Bluetooth streaming, CD Changer, USB input and an SD card slot however I have no idea if it has ianything support and I don't own any i product so I don't really care.

I am yet to work out why the speaker distance settings won't let me place the woofer further away than the mid and tweeter and the manual doesn't explail why you can set a -ve value.
