Focal KRX2 or KRX3?

I was dead set on KRX2s but the allure of 3 ways has gotten me thinking...
The biggest issue I have is installation. I will not modify my door trims to fit them, the only thing I am willing to fabricate are new kick panels.
Which leads me to my next question.
Has anyone successfully fit the mid and tweeter in the kick panels of a 2005 WRX STi?
Suggestions Please!

If u want to go a 3 way active setup...look also at some other options...
Hybrid Audio have a L6, L3 and L1 Pro tweeter, active, for a bit over $1100.
Even the L8, L4 and L1 Pro would only be about $1300.... And if there are any L1 Pro SE tweeters left, that would still come to less than the KRX3 price...
Anyways...just some food for thought
Also others out there - DynAudio, Morel, Crescendo etc well worth considering...

The K2P's were actually impressive enough as it is - the 6K2P midbass strikes a very nice ballance between midbass and midrange and to this day it remains one of the best 6"-7" car audio mids I've heard. The tweeters are decent, but lack the ability to play anywhere below about 3.5khz comfortable - otherwise they are actually quite nice. Convieniently, running a three way set with the K4Slim would completely eliminate that issue, because it would allow you to cross the tweeter up around 4khz where it's extremely comfortable.
Set up well it could be a brilliant set - though that is once again assuming that they perform very similar to the K3P's.
A-pillars would be a briliant place for a 4" mid and tweeter if they have the room for it (as suggested). I personally prefer a mid+tweeter in the A-Pillar versus the kick panels any day of the week. If that's not an option then the kicks is also fine, just that being covered by dash parts and passenger legs constantly tends to kill a lot of the top end performance...and the Focal tweeters don't really have the greatest off-axis response to begin with.
If you CAN fit the midrange then I would absolutely go 3-way, without hessitation. The Focal two-way sets are absolutely brilliant in a demo board but not so brilliant in a "typical" car install, due primarilly to the high crossover point on the tweeter (combined with the limited off axis response of a typical 6" mid). 3-way would solve this problem and bring out the best in them.

You will get the KRX3 mid in there with a bit of work. If im not mistaken, Fhrx has put KRX3's into an 04 WRX, though there was some spacing required on the front of the driver too to hold out the door trim slightly. Shoot Marty an email and he might be able to provide more info.
Hard, but far from impossible. Good luck with it.

Interesting comments about the Focals.. I used to run Polyglass splits and they were fantastic.
I do not think I will have any issues fitting in the door.. I fit Morel Elate 6's with no issue.
The morels had a nice sound but were not quite what I was looking for.
I listen to a lot of different music, Andrea Bocelli to Rammstein so I need speakers that will all everything to sound good.
Focals always fit this bill..

Ricks right, you can fit these exact set in a WRX without cutting the door trim, we even manged to get DD split in just this week. There is photos on the FHRX site i think of this install. Black WRX with the custom boot with JL subs etc

Considering the Dynaudio 242 GT. Now I know they are a good speaker, but how diverse are they in terms of the music they play well? Or are they suited to a particular sort of music?
