I have a few spec sheets and f/r and phase graphs somewhere i think.......will search later on.

Other wise Ren will find this thread and give you the LD yo.

EDIT: there also appears to be some ts specs at the bottom of the catalogue

The only excuse for passive crossovers is their low cost. Their behavior changes with the signal level dependent dynamics of the drivers. They block the power amplifier from taking maximum control over the voice coil motion. They are a waste of time, if accuracy of reproduction is the goal.

so skeptical thematt untill you have heard them its not a good idea to comment it only makes you look foolish or if your trying to goad me well

"IT WORKED" hers a bit about them

the sub from the MM series was in last yearts big sub reveiw in the incar magazine it was a 4year old sound board sub that wasnt really in the best shape it came third overall in the comp for best 12" sq sub in australia

the testing was all done independently

The MM series of speakers are order only as each set is a compleate numbered one of and handmade to order they are hand millid legs and well is all made by a bunch of small italoian dudes they are one of the best sets of speakers ive ever heard but then i am slightly biased towards the brand

we wikl be submitting sum soon for reveiw and testing to the independent soundlabs that are used by incar magazine and we will get them fully reveiwed back to back against some of the other big boys to see how they stack up but if our other reveiws are anything to go by these will preform stupendiosly

they are very pricy but you pay for exculsivity and excellence its just the way it is
the are basically a true as life music reporducer and porvided you have the right amps(mosconi or steg hahaha)

then these speakers will produce a sound so close to actually being there listenting to the artist you would be forgiven for mistaking that you were there but as always the proof is in the pudding the AD speakers have already proved to be solid SQ speakers with good overall attributes and everyone who has bought them or used them has loved them

so i have no doubts it will be the same with the MM series

That would be dependent on proper installation, for one thing. I look forward to seeing some reviews.

i never said i wanted them, nor was i particularly interested, but had heard about them and wondered (for the benefit of anyone who might be interested) if there was any info.
i agree with u matt, anyone who pays $3k for a set of car speakers isnt interested in getting the best sound, but more about having a certain brand in their car for bragging rights

and Ren, why not submit both products to the mea mag for review/test? (cos we all know how 'independant' and thorough the InCar reviews are...)

A reviewer can only be independent or not, they can't be very independent Ren... :pp

And yes, these speakers would be for exclusivity as much as for SQ, but that's the point of them isn't it? Do the speakers come with a 1m sticker for the rear windscreen bearing the name and model of the kit? :D You have got to let people know one way or another you have $$$ speakers in your car!

Ren, I think what ~thematt~ is getting at is that speakers that generally cost this much in car audio circles tend to lack the sorts of features you would expect, eschewing these features for 'blingy' baskets.

Quoted from ~thematt~ in reference to the Esotar2 set:

~thematt~, on Dec 16 2009, 10:40 AM, said:

Thats a good question. I'll answer that with a similar question. Is there anything in the driver that commands such a hefty price tag?

Same as above. Who makes this 'regard', and is it based on anything besides a listening test by people who have already purchased them? Justification is a strong motivator.

For $1.5k a pair, for 4" mids, I'd expect something special. Shorting Rings AND Faraday Rings or a Dual Differential/SD Motor (all for linear displacement and low distortion), loss-less surround and Kevlar impregnated cone (for low energy storage), AlNico magnets (to justify the cost, I'd be expecting very special magnets), full copper (not aluminium) coils and push-plug terminals. The basket will need to be resonant free, and preferably cast (not stamped).

If the driver had all this sort of stuff, and then measured a symmetrical displacement, a playkurtic BL distribution, very low levels of 2nd 3rd and 4th harmonic distortions and had wonderful heat dissipation, then I would consider $1.5k for a pair.

From what I know, the Esotar 430 doesnt contain any of the above.

Quoted from ~thematt~ in reference to the Esotar2 set:
^^^ Thats exactly what I'm getting at.

A driver is expensive for one of three reasons.
- The technology inside the driver has an attached 'worth' of the ticket price.
- The technology does NOT have the worth, but the aesthetics do (bling bling).
- The driver contains a markup.

I respect honesty. If the reason the speaker is expensive is because of 2), then say so. People will buy it anyway. Hell, people bought Rainbow Reference gear (which is just a shiny version of SEAS Reference Mags). I even respect people that put a markup on stuff. Understandably, you need to feed your kids too.

But I challenge any man, woman or child who comes on here and spouts its because of the technology, without the basic data to support it. Show me the Klippel analysis, and I'll retract my comments. Until then, deal with reality.
