Doran Pro Audio Sound Off

Posted 01 March 2010 - 11:00 AM
I'm posting this on behalf of Tony from Doran Pro Audio.
Tony is considering running a different format from dB Drag at a few of his soundoffs this year and would like some feedback from the audio community.
The proposed new format will have a variety of different classes to try and encourage more attendance and new people to the competition scene.
There will be vehicle type classes as well as power classes. Something like this:
-Sedan 0-500WRMS.
-Sedan 501-1500WRMS.
-Sedan 1501+WRMS.
-Hatch 0-500WRMS.
-Hatch 501-1500WRMS.
-Hatch 1501+WRMS.
-Wagon 0-500WRMS.
-Wagon 501-1500WRMS.
-Wagon 1501+WRMS.
-Ute 0-500WRMS.
-Ute 501-1500WRMS.
-Ute 1501+WRMS.
Entry to these events will also be considerably cheaper at $25 per car. Every entrant will get a laminated certificate with there name, score etc written on it. Tony is also considering doing Trophies for the winners (Pending costs and interest in the event). The scores from every competitor at any of these events will also be posted on the Doran Pro Audio website so you can keep track of your improvements etc.
The first of these proposed events is planning to be run on the 25th of April at Doran Pro Audio Bankstown (Unit 6/42 Canterbury Road, Bankstown NSW 2200).
Before then Tony would love to hear your suggestions and feedback for this proposed new format. Any ideas, thoughts, criticisms etc can be posted here, or you can call Tony at the shop on 97916311.
Tell everyone you know with a car stereo about this event, we are trying to get as many people as possible and make it huge!

but also i spoke to him about a couple of other things he didn't realize that can be done with dbdrag events and classes and stuff that will attract people that are beginners and dont have big power systems or sedans
example all the people that run events dont realize so long as you run all the standard dbdrag classes at your event, you are able to add a couple of extra classes like a sedan class for example and a beginners class limited to say 500w. the only thing is they wont be recognized classes. if a competitors dbdrag profile was viewed it would show their points but their class would be unknown. therefore making them not eligible for points champion, worlds invite ect.
this is just one thing im betting all event promoters dont know they can do, and because they dont know this, it shys them away from holding dbdrag events as a normal dbdrag event scares ya everday joe blow that gets flogged by ya experienced dbdrag competitors away.
and if they hold un sanctioned events the bigger regular dbdrag cars dont turn up then either.
some food for thought guys.
and before someone says are ya sure this is allowed, or i dont think angelo would say its ok. its been confirmed and talked about with angelo and myself, after i was blasted about something i did with the un sanctioned events i ran last year. and is something i am using for our events in the future. because it keeps new guys happy, and keeps dbdrag guys happy as it keeps the sanctioned events going
but anyway if tony doesn't look at doing or taking some of the advise i suggested to him. for his events that chips is talking about, it'll prob be more like.

and crosspug, you'd be surprised how man people run 2 or 4 channels under 600wrms to run subs in their cars. these are the people tony is thinking of.
cheers billy
