Seeking professional advice for sound quality

So the set up i've got is: clarion 6" and splits at the front, JBL 6"x9" in the rear shelf and a kicker 12" sub and amp WITH an eonon touch screen i know i know but it is actually good apart from the sound quality. My system was thumping before i had it put in, i previously had just a basic pioneer HU but sounded awesome.
What options do i have to get better and more powerful sound? I was thinking hooking up my speaker to a good 4 channel amp? Any suggestions without replacing the HU?

set a high-pass filter on both of around 80Hz. Make sure the phase of the sub is matching the phase of both front a rear speakers (if one if out of phase with the others, you will get cancellation and greatly reduced sub/mid-bass)
make sure the sub has a low-pass filter around 70-100Hz.
Ensure the front and rear speakers are solidly mounted - this mean for the 6x9s to put them in some form of enclosure (ideally) and have them screwed/bolted down.
for the front speakers it means making sure the midwoofer is mounted to a nice solid baffle, with no airleaks around it. try to completely separate the front wave from the back wave. sound deaden your doors and seal over the service holes.
there's a start

That article by Simon is a really good one to give u a better understanding of the elements of sound quality.

if powering 4 speakers (front and rear) then you need 2pr of pre-outs
if powering 2 speakers and a sub, you also need 2pr of pre-outs (ch1&2 for speakers, ch3+4 'bridged' to run sub)
as for amps, it depends on your budget. ryda are reputable for online sales, but most/all of their products do NOT come with australian manufacturer's warranty.
fhrx are also very good for online sales - not as cheap, but great service, good advice, genuine products with Oz warranty, and good shipping
second hand, there are some good amps in the FS section;
phoenix gold zx450, spl dynamics s2604, earthquake ph2200/4, zapco ref360.4, jl 300/4

I agree with BR85 there are some people out there who have been around for ever yet still struggle with some concepts of audio. But don't rely entirely on the internet as some people on the web still have no idea....Yet they talk like they do.....
That HU you have was built to have all the connections but SQ was the last thing they were thinking about.... The Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse etc are still made to sound good as well as having great connectivity....
I would start with a good head-unit then get an amp if you think you need it.....
