Me and a few mates would like to enter in Street Stock B i think for db drag racing.
Do we just have to turn up on the day, register, pay then compete? Also, its not important as we just want to have a crack at it, but are there any prizes?
Thanks.

When it comes to the novice category I think the judges/organisers need some more specific classing system.
For example, shop systems under $5,000 (just a guess) can run in novice if it's the person's first time competing.
I'm sure the Judges could come up with a system that makes everyone happier, they just need to sit down and look at what systems have done well and what ones haven't or something like that. Maybe just some more scrutiny at the entry stage will get around this somewhat.
- How much was spent on the system?
- How many hours 'run time' has it had?
- Has it been tuned by ear or with an RTA?
- How much time has the competitor put into tuning them self?
- How much has the shop put in?
These are all aspects that I see as making a difference to how a system sounds, or could potentially sound.
As a side note, I picked up a lot talking to the judge for Novice (Sorry I'm useless with names) and other competitors. I made some adjustments after the comp and I think I may have fixed one or two small things already.
2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th were actually quite close, looking at the scores so I think all in all there was some good competition.
Thanks to everyone for a great day.

Actually our classing system works very well and has been evolved over a number of years. Judges discretion can also be applied, and perhaps as you mention at the entry stage a closer look is needed for some of these cars.
Great turnout!
