I have heard a few of the peerless woofers, and I was underwhelmed. The best I heard was an XXLS 12" in 60 litres, but it still lacked authority in the lower octave (<30Hz).

Yeah I don't think 1 would cut it for most people. If you're against boosting or cutting then they're probably not the right subs.

i'm with simon, the xxls subs aren't the best unless you can get them in quite large enclosures (for a car)...around 2.2cuft sealed. and even then, they do still lack a bit in the bottom end.

I put a Pioneer TSW-12PRS in the missus car and it is surpriosingly good, for a $399 woofer I didn't expect the performance that it actually offers.

Looking forward to hearing the new RF Power series woofers, the older ones were great so the new ones should be exceptional :)

I also like the RE SE, SX and XXX woofers I rate their performance highly :)

I will be upgrading my sub setup soon. I'd recomend an etone 806. At $268 inc gst it is a bargain. Specs are following:
600wrms, 15', qts 0.32, 98db sensitve, 4 inch voice coil. Have a look on etonesound.com. They are in sydney and have been putting woofers together for 25 years. Their old 805 was as good as a JBL 2206. It should have an extremely tight bass due to it's lo xmax and ultra high sensitivity. And they can recone it too with the original cone material. Not a chineese equivilent.

hmm missing a few TS specs there, certainly not enough to model a box for it. I would of expected a speaker manufacturer to certainly give a full list of specs

not to mention the etone's have a very high Fs and also a very large Vas = big box required and not very good at the low stuff

The 806's Fo is 38Hz. Yes it is a 15, but will be extremely tight an quick because of the light mass and short travel of the cone. Plus, the size of the magnet is huge. There are other drivers there too. I believe that a ported box at around 2 cu would be fine. The best thing with etone is that you speak to the actual owner. But the choice is yours. I must say though, the rockford t series subs are sounding very good. Kicker solo x or L7 too.
