Golf GTI MK6 2010 - what to do?

I have purchased a 2010 Golf GTI and I am waiting to take delivery of it in mid July but as it was a car that was coming into stock rather than a custom order, it did not have the Dynaudio option - which is OK because it probably would not have been worth the $1300 anyway.
I know the stock stereo is decent but, seeing that I love my car audio, I probably will want to do something with it soon.
As it is a brand new car, I do not have the desire to take it to bits to install a bunch of gear. Alas I know I am going to have to do this to a small extent..
I do not want to remove the stock head unit because it is a pretty cool touch screen unit and from what I have read, a fairly clean source too. That and the fact that anything else would not look right there.
So my options are cut down to installing an amp and a new front stage.
Currently, I have a pair of Focal KRX2 Splits.
I was thinking about adding one of the Blaupunkt plug and play amps that actually have a wiring harness for the Golfs, and then just installing the splits into the factory locations.
Who here has experience with the Golfs and these Blaupunkt amps?
Thanks!

if you have the screen then you have the RNS510. bucket load of things you can add to that deck as options . have a bit of a dig around the web and look for kufatec pieces..

amps - yes. amp + golf 6 - no. amps are great for the budget and the fact you can use them without hacking things up. as with all things you can do better with more money.

I have the RCD510 so no sat nav.
So you do not recommend the Blaupunkt?
I actually took delivery of the car yesterday.. I am very impressed with the stock Audio system - it is the best factory system I have heard in a car in this price range.

If so, a three-way system is really a must. Anything two-way is going to sound absolutely garbage with the midbass driver being mounted behind the listener. Such an idiotic design, but I guess in VW's defense the factory layout is 3-way, so they have designed it knowing they could get away with it (rather then designing it fo aftermarket modification in mind).
Rainbow might be work looking into - in the past they have had vehicle-specific sets designed as drop-in replacements for OEM systems. They tend to have these sets avaialble primarily for european (and especially German) model cars so there is good chance they may have one to suit the MK6 Golf...that is assuming it has the same configuration as the MK5.

As Muz points out, i missed a chunk of stuff that made this relevant
MKVI has the midbass in the conventional location, thankfully!

There's really no limit to what can be done in a MKVI,
and from what i've sussed out, it can be done with minimal hacking.
My plan is to install tweeters and midrange in the a-pillars,
shouldn't be an issue at the base of the pillar, as the airbag is apparently at the top
pillar trims are usually cheap, and by the time you're ready to sell, they will be readily available at wreckers.
If you want to go all out with an aftermarket headunit, for full features (EQ/Processor etc)
There's a spot in the armrest, which is DIN sized (location for factory MDI, or CD Changer)
i have't pulled one out to see how deep the hole is, but worst case scenario, the rear air vents below it need to be modified which won't be visible.
Would also be a good spot for a BitOne controller.
I've used blaupunkt amps before, i'd rate them simliar to Jaycar,
Good cheap, reliable power, but nothing particularly fancy.

Good to hear that they moved the midbass location back to a more traditionaly place - about time!
