Just a reminder to those considering entering this event - a lot of ground work has been done to get events to South Australia, including many of us driving up and towing all the equipment at considerable cost. We don't expect to cover our expenses with this event, however see it as a worthy exercise to spread the word of MEASQ and car audio competition. We need your support to allow this to happen and to hopefully allow it to continue after this first event.

We have made this event pre-entry so we can get an idea of numbers competing. Obviously, for only a handful of competitors it will not be worthwhile. So please, have a go, get your entry in and support MEA, MEASQ and car audio competition.

Ang from Ang's Car Audio has also offered his full facilities and support for this event and as SA's only MEA Specialist Partner Program retailer it would be great for us all to show our support for Ang as well. :)

Marc and other previous SQ competitors; I am sure there is information in the SQ section otherwise, but for newcomers, What is the easiest way to work out which class to enter for SQ?
For example, I know plenty of people who haven't competed in SQ before, but who have pretty advanced systems. Would they still go into novice class?

I am working on a plan for dinner and a meet up on Friday night - I will post here when it's sorted.

Once again it is very exciting to see SA with an SQ event coming up and I hope it's a sign of things to come!

Great to see this thread up Marc.

Thank you to yourself and those who have helped in making this even happen, I'm sure we can get enough entries to make it happen :good:

Looking forward to this ;)

Novice is for first time competitors, but more specifically for those who have very little knowledge about car audio and sound quality. (Don't understand the importance of sub-level, front staging, imaging basics, etc)
It's primarily used in VIC/ACT/QLD for those that want to get into the sq scene, but don't feel comfortable jumping straight into the more competitive Intermediate class (particularly in VIC and ACT where Inter is a very strong class).
I would imagine that most competitors at this SA event would be able to jump straight in to Intermediate, however.
There may be some that want to go into Advanced 1 (or 2) class, and those of us coming from VIC and competing will be able to give the SA guys a listen to our cars, so you can decide if you want to be in those higher classes.
There may also be some discretion on the judge's behalf, as to what class competitors should be in.

Generally though, this is an introductory competition and depending on competitor numbers, we may only run a selection of the classes.

personally i'd like to see some more action behind the spl side of things, as its obviously not a sanctioned event which i'm quite happy about, we can take a more relaxed approch, have say 4 classes, and maybe a trophy for the winner, runner up if there is enough interest... this would take alot of local effort, in ANGs and the local boys to rustle up the interest, and acquire pre entries...
but from past experience, SPL can often bring out alot of people who otherwise wouldn't attend, a.k.a "teh fully sik look at my massive sony xplod's" etc

Marc, if cost for trophys would be an issue, send us a pm as i MAY just be willing to sponser a couple of trophies...

the Lunchbox.inc deebeez hunt!!!

classes as follows

2x 10" - 1x 12"

3x 10" - 2x 12" - 1x 15"

4x 10" - 3x 12" - 2x 15" 1x 18"

and my personal favourite
ANYTHING GOES!!!!!

again guys this is just a suggestion... if you'd like to pm me marc, i'd like to offer my hat into organising the SPL side of thing...

Sorin is helping out with the SPL mate, and we just may step things up a notch yet - your offer is very generous however.
Cost of trophies is not the issue - what classes and what is on the trophies is the biggest dilemma.

It's too early days for a sanctioned db Drag event IMO - I think we can run a simple SPL competition for the time being and grow it in SA accordingly.

At the moment we're keen to trial the format that's been previously suggested for a local SA SPL competition - just haven't had an event really big enough to get it going, but this does look like it could be the one to try it at - with Team SS running the SPL comp, no doubt we'll bring at least 1 car out for SPL, and Sam will no doubt jump onto a chance at some SQ action also.

Really looking forward to this one guys.

i couldn't agree more about it not being sanction... FAR too early and i think we will see better turnout, for a non- sanctioned event...

but as stated, i'd LOVE to sponser some trophies for the right to have my name on them in someway... lol even just a "lunchbox.inc is awesome" on the bottom... lol so the offer stands... lol

as above tho,

those classes are what have been used over here for non-sanction events with great success, names for each class would need to be sorted as obvious street A-B-C etc is registered to DB drags...

but i may contact sorin to see if i can offer any advice...

thanks Marc!!

Too right, and a well considered approach to getting things going in SA. Informal classes are a good way to get interest in without stressing them about technicalities that may push them up a class and ruin their chances.

Good stuff. I can think of several cars which can go into a higher class off the bat, and it will be good to reaffirm that via some listening to the Vic guys' cars.

Marc/other authorised people; Do you have any special requests as far as distributing those posters go, or would it be OK to print a few and circulate them to a few local car parts stores ie Sprints/Autobarns/Repco etc?
