G'day All,

I am just about to install my existing car PC that has been running Centrafuse 2 and 3 into my new landcriuser. I use it mainly for the GPS Satnav software (OziExplorer) for off road use and having all mp3's and video's makes it quite nice. In the last car I had the 7" touchscreen sitting on the dash and ran the signal through a Pioneer headunit. With the new car I want to remove the headunit and use the CarPC for everything with the sound output direct to my amp and have bought a double DIN bracket for the screen. The only thing the old headunit was used for was the FM radio.

Has anyone had any experience with using a USB FM radio in the car? I know there are a few USB Digital TV tuners that can also pick up FM radio but have heard people have lots of problems with digital TV's in cars due to directional aerial problems (I just want to use the existing aerial).

Cheers

get wireless internet and bookmark the online feeds of your favorite stations :P

but nah seriously never had much experience with carputers, the USB radio might not be too bad, would probably work though, although like you said the whole movement thing might affect it, its prob worth a try mate, and let us know how u go

Yeah I thought of that, but as I actually use my 4wd for what it was designed for there's not too many 3G towers in the Simpson desert! ha :)

Radioshark seems to get OK reviews, I haven't tried it myself though.

The amplifier has a small packet of 'warning smoke.' When you do silly things to it, it lets out the warning smoke to make you think something is damaged when it isn't.

Of course something is damaged! There was smoke!
