I took delivery of these little babies today, from the US. I can highly recommend the Seller - Mark Brooks - off DIYMA forums (username 'Audible Physics'). Great to deal with, reliable, and prompt.

I bought this pair as part of his pre-release order, and as such, all customers received the Limited Edition version as a bonus. The difference being, the phase plug is made from 'ironwood' rather than 'rosewood'; the LE will ordinary carry a US$75 premium. This pair cost me US$460, delivered; not sure what the normal price will be.

They are 4ohm drivers, with an Fs of 165Hz, 5mm one-way xmax, 86 dB/W/m sensitivity, and power handling up to around 250WRMS depending on enclosure size and xover setting (recommended at least 50WRMS). All in a 3" driver!

XR = eXtended Range series
M = magnesium alloy cone

Suggested HP xover setting is 250-300Hz, and extend beyond 20kHz with no roll-off! Indeed many users suggest tweeters are not necessary. Enclosure size 0.75-1.0L, or infinite baffle. These could be used as part of an awesome 2-way setup. Audio Physics also offer the 'XR Duo', with the XR3M teamed with the XR6.5M 6.5" woofer. There are also several other series in his range.

They are very solidly built - heavy! Those in the US who are using them, or have heard them, rave about them. I originally bought them to use as centre channel speakers. However, given MEASQ no long has 2-seat judging, a centre channel is no longer essential. So rather than cut a hole in the dash of my Alfa 155, I'm now tempted to install these in the kickpanel enclosures and replace the Sinfoni S100M 4" midrange, and possibly negate using the Sinfoni S25T tweeters too!

For now, I'll continue with the Sinfoni mids/tweets, but I will build some adaptors to try these XR3M's in the future.

Nice buy shiny, these are a hot contender against the new HAT 3 inch full ranges. Would be great to see if they sound good in the GT as well as the 155. maybe a couple of adapter rings for each car?

Nice pick up Rich! I was considering these a little while ago when I first heard about them but the $ just weren't available.
From all reports, they are fantastic speakers, as are the new AR range too - though there has been a HUGE increase in price compared to Mark's previous H-Audio drivers.

I don't want to modify the GT's system again. It's all 'in' and sounds great. :P

The 155 is still in a state of evolution, so I'm inclined to do some chopping and changing to get it to the stage I'm happy with. The Sinfoni speakers have more potential in them for sure, and the new kickpanel pods will bring that out. I could end up keeping the XR3M's for a 'future' car, though will probably play with them a bit in the 155.

How is going. Glad the XR3M-LE arrived safe and sound.

I have used the Sinfoni mids, as I built the last Sinfoni demo car here in the US last summer. The Sinfoni 4" is a very nice open and detail transducer. It sounded amazing on the Bridged Sinfoni Class A Prestigio's on themPosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Yep sure a doubling in price over the former H-Audio products. You would be correct and it was even hard for me to do it, but I had no choice as countless amounts of R&D went into the development and material of the current Audible AR3K and XR3M. I did everything in my power to keep the price down on them. But compare to some other drivers that are still a steal.

I little look into the DNA of the the new Audible Physics transducers. No honestly how many other 3" transducers on the market have 5mm of one-way xmax, 70mm flat Neo motor that was originally designed to power a 7" wide-band transducer. Also that employs a Magnesium Alloy cone that use a fusion process to the cone that all but eliminates cones brake up at higher frequencies that is proprietary to the Audible Physics XR Series transducers.

Now move to the massive amount of power handling these drivers can handle. Now add the Rosewood and Ironwood, which is not cheap option to add to a driver, that they truly make a difference in the over all sound. And all the usual sound good option copper shorting rings, venting under the spider, cast frames etc..... There is nothing add that will not make the transducer sound better. So no bling added. No pretty magnet covers, not fancy connectors. It all about sonic purity and linearity with the Audible Physics XR3M and AR3K.

Now look at the XR6.5M, it is an Ultra Wide-Band transducer, Yep that is correct if will do 60hz - up no tweeter need. So it will do anything you ask of it, stand alone mid-bass, mid/bass in a two with a tweeter and yes mib-bass/midrange/tweeter in one transducers and it does it all at an reference level. The XR6.5M is simply the most versatile 6.5" transducer currently in production for Mobile Audio.

But don't fear, a new Line of H-Audio drivers are on the way, improved and at the same great prices as the originally H-Audio driversPosted ImagePosted Image. The Audible Physics Drivers is a statement of what can be done when the gloves come off. Cool thing is we continue to try to improve on the design, but that is a not an easy task.

Can't wait to hear you thoughts on the XR3M-LE.

Welcome back Mark, good to see you popping your head in here again.
My comments re pricing certainly wasn't negative, it was more to indicate how much better these should be considering the performance from the previous H-Audio range.
And no, ironwood certainly isn't cheap - a cabinet-maker mate just finished a table with ironwood top and it was VERY pricey, just for material!

Do BOTH the XR and AR speakers use copper shorting rings? (midranges and midwoofers)

No problem sir and I did't take it that way at all. I just thought i would give a closer look at the difference in the way the goals of the Audible Physics line over the Old H-Audio line. Sorry if I came off as being defensive at all.

Yes both the XR and AR us copper shorting rings. They both use the same motor design, the biggest difference is the cones and phase plugs. The cones and phase plugs make up the difference in the price of the 2 series.

Between the 2 Series it is more of a preference in sonic reproduction then it is a higher or lower series. There is another series planned for Audible Physics for late this year. The PR Series (Physics Range), this series will be a little less costly and will be base off the very nice some GF6.5 midbass (Glass Fiber). The goal is to have a Series with a sonic signature that will be pleasing to just about anyone. Just choose the sonic signature you prefer

The PR Series (Physics Range) will be warm, natural with very good detail.

The AR Series (Audible Range) is highly revealing, great detail and Transparent and with a little more on the low-end.

The XR Series (eXtended Range) takes the best qualities of the AR and PR in merge them in to one Series. Warm, natural, revealing, accurate and high Resolution.
