Hey,

Just looking for a pair of SQ amps to run the following:

Morel Elate 6 - 2 Ways
and
Rainbow Vanadium 10" Sub

I would like the morel's to run active so in need of a 4x~100W RMS or so, and a monoblock for the sub.

Just wondering what you guys recommend.

Cheers.

I would go a single amp system and use the Tru-technology B6-Si,

............or...............

if you wanted to go the 2 amp route try an Arc Audio 4200SE teamed up with a 4000SE.

As Rick has said, a budget will make it a lot easier to give you ideas.. as well as what car you want to put this gear in. (for size reasons)

Also what you want from your system will help.. "proper" SQ, SQ but loud (SQL) or the "18 year old in his VT Conmm's idea of SQ" :P

Will you be entering your car in MEASQ competition with your system?

Hi mate, I've heard amps from Audiosystem and Tru Technologies pushing Morel Elates before.
The Phoenix Gold Titanium series (older but still available second hand now and then) is what I've been using.

All of these would work very well indeed with Morel from a synergistic point of view.
The car:
Honda RB3 Odyssey Lux - 24 bitness and 5ch bipolar Class A/B activeness
Source/processor:
Clarion HX-D2, Cleaved iP4
Amplification:Phoenix Gold Titanium 500.4 & 600.2, Alpine PDX4.150
Drivers:Audible Physics XR3M super wide band point source mid/tweeters, Seas Prestige L16RNSL midbasses, Infinity Perfect 10VQ sub, Fountek FR88EX wide band rears
Cables:Monster Cable XLN Pro, Monster Cable XLN S-16

The home:
Home two channel - Class A valve and ribbon goodness

Source:
Sony XA5ES (Burson discrete op amps x 6)
Amplification: Bewitch KT88 class A valve integrated
Speakers:Aurum Cantus Leisure II ribbon monitors (EXO modded, hand made ribbons) & high massed Epos stands
Cables: Kimber Kable PBJ, 4TC, 8TC

Hey guys,

thanks for your input so far.

My budget is around $800 for both amps (i might be able to push it a little more). My car is a MK6 Golf GTI, so hopefully this gives you an indication of how much space i have to work with.

Overall im looking for a solid SQ system that is still decently loud. Im not intending on entering in the MEASQ comp, but who knows?

Im fairly new to car audio, so hope you guys can give me some pointers.

Cheers.

For that price range, I'd go with one good amp rather than two cheap ones (also don't forget 2 amps means more cable and possibly distros and/or fuses and fuse holders, more mounting, more space etc.

As far as brands go, there's been some good recommendations already, look at the specs for those and see if there are ones that are similar....

This might suit?
AE101 Toyota Corolla
HU: Pioneer DEH-80PRS -> Active
Front Stage: ARC Audio KS300.4 -> DLS UP5i
Sub: Genesis Profile 2 Ultra (bridged) -> Image Dynamics IDQ10D2V3

Or this one? Throw in an offer. You never know your luck.

They are very, very nice amps.

Edit added: WHOOPS! Just reread your original post and you'll need another channel. Perhaps you can double your budget and buy his matching 2110 too!Posted Image

For a one amp solution that is proving to be an excellent sq amp try the ZED leviathan. Tegboy has one for sale in the for sale section for $650. Well under your budget and has 150wrms by 6 channels. 4 channels for active front stage and then 2 channels bridged for the sub. Well be able to push those speakers to their limits without breaking a sweat and its not very big at all.

Nice car btw!

I happen to know someone who's running an Elate set up with the really compact Alpine class D amps and it actually sounds very good. He took out his class at the last competition event by quite a big margin too.

The Alpine amps are also stackable.

Agreed - A DLS Reference RA40 would be a nice option if you can find someone for around there. I believe they retail for $999, but with some negotiating you might be able to get one around the $800 mark.

Very nice amps for the money.

JL Audio Slash are also worth a look in, tho not sure if they fit that budget.

If it's DLS you want, Cartoys still has runout stock they're selling (including reference series amps) at 60% off retail. Give them a buzz.

Failing that, i'd jump on the Leviathan or Audison 5-channel in a heart-beat.

Wanky uninstalled gear that I need to install in my 200sx this year:

for around $800 for both amps, better to look at run-out stock, or second hand. That's really the low-end for anything "SQ"-focussed.
