gday guys and gals,

just a quick question, a mate of mine has a late 1990's wrx impreza and he is wondering if it is possible to diable the factory keypad immobiliser that is fitted in these? he has issues with 2 of the buttons in his code, sometimes they dont recognise a press, somtimes they press twice when he presses it once, and it makes it hard to start it etc.

just wondering if anyone has any clues of how to bypass it. any help would be muchly appreciated.

regards,

mangoat.

The Brant alarms were a PITA, they were fitted for insurance reasons with WRX. I would suggest looking a replacement alarm for the REX.

start cutting wires.

if you dont know which ones then employ the services of an alarm installer. make sure they are licensed as a license is required to do any alarm work for the public.

Mate had a 07 WRX and had the keypad. Entering the code all the time pissed him off too, so he just puts it in Valet mode all the time.

Means you can drive the car without having to input the code, however valet mode is limited to 9 starts.

Heres a guide on how to do it to a 2002 WRX, might work on your mates too.

Hi. the touch pad immobilizer is purely a 2 point immobilizer wired to the ecu with its own control box on the passengers side floor. You should be able to find which wires are cut by looking at the colors of the cut factory wiring. there is also a third immobilizer tied in with the remote entry module on upgrade on some and a key reader as well. Cheers MD

trace the keypad cable to find the box, open it and look for three identical relays. turn the board over and trace the two thick tracks from one relay to the pins in the connector. find the corresponding wires in the connector and cut and join them. repeat for the remaining two relays. brroom

I had problems with mine in my 2001 wrx. I got all my work done at S&J Automotive in Adelaide. There are 'fix' modules that i had installed and fixed all sorts of problems. I would not attempt to do anything myself as you may get stuck! Good luck.

Its the "minor detail" that makes a difference

Hi Guys,

The Brant alarm systems had some major faults in the system, there was a major product recall that sent the original Brant owners broke. Brant is now owned by new people who offer similar services at a premium price.

Best bet is to remove the system before it becomes a major problem. We charge $88 inc GST for removal in NSW its not a hard thing.

Kind Regards,
