Hi everyone,

Got a simple question regarding wiring of an LED strip. I will be installing this: http://www.aerpro.co...T+BLUE&cat_sno= behind my front bumper soon and as the listing suggests, it is a 24" strip. It also says it can be cut to size.

Now I want to cut this in half to create 2 12" strips. However Im a bit confused here. When I opened the package, there is wire already soldered with heat shrink onto this LED strip, and it does not look like I can cut the LED strip in half and strip it to expose anymore wire. Perhaps I can but I dont want to sacrifice it.

If anyone on here has bought the same product as me, please provide me your experience.

Cheers, Tommy

I would assume you cut it, and simply discard the unused section.

find the other 2 connection points half way up the strip cut before that and solder wires to those connection points

if it's flexible, cut it in half, then use a stanley knife to cut off the clear section from the base, then scrape at the base to expose the copper tracks where you want to solder new power wire.

Thanks heaps :D It was an effort to scrape the plastic sheet. the copper tracks are paper thin so damage could have occurred very easily. Next time Ill just buy the 12" one instead haha. But I managed to get it all right. Soldered some wires on, taped and used some silicon to water proof it. Decided to put it under my headlight, so the gap between my bumper and headlight would glow, better than the audi look ;)

Id love to put it on the car lol, but these headlights are for my project car, which has been off the road for nearly 2 years... Headlights are for a cressida though so I can only picture what it might look like haha.

bit of a thread hijack, but for anybody looking, i just put these on my XR

They are stuck onto the bottom of the headlight, and are side emitting rather than top emitting.

looks good, you could even try putting it along the top of the headlight for a different look
