i heard on the news the other day a guy "planked" on a police car. i had no idea, my first impression was "planking" was a polite term for "crapping" but then i realised i couldnt have been more wrong. So im curious as to who does it and why =/

it is where one lies on an object in a fully straight manner (so you look like a wood plank balancing on the object) People do it because they think its cool and funny and a challenge. Its just a stupid stupid idea and people have already been killed when they have tried to plank on a 6th storey balcony...Idiots..

The 6th story balcony is an example of someone ruining it for everyone.

i couldn't agree more, us more "highly evolved" beings sometimes have to sacrifice to move forward, but's ok, i hear it's quite relaxing in our shadows...

Some ancient philosophers theorise that 'planking' was first invented 3000-4000 years ago in Ancient Egypt. The spiritual ritual was originally performed facing upwards, but as you know, modern planking is performed face-down. This is due to the 'plankers' being ashamed with their addiction of planking along with the emergence of digital cameras being ready to shoot incriminating photos of said plankers during the act.

Seriously its all just a bit of a laugh. People getting all wound up about it.
This fella that fell off the balcony is just $h!t luck he was drunk - lots of drunk people fall off balonies every year and die. Its nothing new.
Just happened to be this guy was "planking". If he had been drunk and sitting on the ledge of the balcony the same could have happened.
At the end of the day there are probably 1000's of people "planking" every day without injury or causing grief to any one. But some poor bugger has falled off a balcony and died and every ones like "planking is unsafe" "plankers are wankers".

Seriously being pissed is unsafe. I remember walking along the yarra one night near crown next thing one of the boys was in the drink. Pissed as a fart he couldnt swim and near drowned. All this because he tripped on something on the ground lost his balance stumbled and went over. No ones running around saying "pissed bloked walking along the yarra are wankers" or "being drunk and walking is unsafe" (Ok I lie some people do).

Fact of the matter is that a few mates having a bit of a laugh and something has gone wrong with really bad consiquences. Unfortunately "shit happens"

We all know someone whos been hit by a car after getting a bit legless, or someone whos fallen down a set of stairs drunk (I actually know a bloke who died because of this and another bloke whos a quadraplegic because of it). None of this gets reported in the news - at least not with as much "enthusiasm" from the media.

Never heard of the penis game, I'm assuming you went to a Catholic school and a teacher was involved?

Planking is great, it gets kids outdoors and must be doing wonders for their core strength+I find it funny as hell especially when someone does a forehead/toes plank, that would take some serios strength.

This would surely take some skill-

I absolutely love the people going around on the news acting like it's some horrific, life threatening death sport. Ha!

People die / kill themselves by failing at all sorts of crap. Why do the few who fail somehow result in the people who do fun stuff being branded as mindless idiots? Oooh I'm being so insensitive. So shoot me.

As for the activity itself, Cide, so many of us remember the penis game. :) So many of us are now successful, smart people who still enjoy letting off steam in the simplest ways!

It's a game played in a public area such as schools, shopping centers, main streets etc. Whoever can say 'penis' the loudest, Wins.
